Arrowhead’s Tribal Program is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Lead Underwriter to join our team. This individual will play a pivotal role in cultivating strong broker partnerships, driving creative underwriting solutions, and influencing the direction of our Tribal business. With a high degree of autonomy, the Lead Underwriter will be empowered to make impactful decisions that support growth, profitability, and innovation.

The pay range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000/year. Bonus potential based on new business generated.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain deep, trust-based relationships with key brokers to drive new business and retain renewals.

  • Lead strategic broker engagement, including account planning, pipeline development, and performance reviews.

  • Develop creative and customized underwriting solutions for complex risks, leveraging cross-functional collaboration with engineering, claims, and loss control.

  • Exercise underwriting authority to make timely, informed decisions that align with business goals and risk appetite.

  • Influence leadership and contribute to the strategic direction of the Tribal Program through market insights and portfolio analysis.

  • Analyze loss trends and claims data to inform underwriting strategy and risk mitigation plans.

  • Communicate the program’s value proposition and risk appetite clearly and effectively to broker partners.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and continuous improvement.

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives that support innovation and growth.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or five or more years of commercial insurance or managing general agency experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of multi-line P&C lines of business, including product features, forms, regulatory environments, risks, etc.

  • Proven underwriting experience, ideally within Tribal or specialty lines.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.

  • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve complex problems.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to influence and lead initiatives.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.

  • Comfortable working independently and making high-impact decisions.

  • Routine or periodic travel which may require the teammate to drive their own vehicle or a rental vehicle.

  • Valid driver’s license and possess an acceptable motor vehicle record at the time of hire and periodically thereafter.

  • Maintain the minimum acceptable insurance coverages and limits as defined by Arrowhead/Brown & Brown.

Pay Range

$100,000 - $140,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
