Lead Technical Safety Engineer with proven experience in the design of process safety & technical safety related actives in projects from conceptual stage through detailed design of medium to large size projects. Thorough knowledge of projects/ process safety, engineering practices, economics principles, calculation methods, international standards, codes, specifications, and procedures. Minimum 15 years’ experience in Oil & Gas, Hydrocarbons, and/or Infrastructure industries. Excellent communication skills required.
Responsibilities:
Has demonstrated experience in Process Safety. Knowledge of project engineering practices, international codes, standards, procedures, and specifications.
Developing and checking of calculations, data sheets, technical notes, requisitions, specifications, drawings and similar deliverables produced within Discipline.
Act as a single focal point of contact for leading/coordinating, planning, supervising the Safety Engineering assigned in the project to ensure improvement in efficiency and quality of work performed.
Conduct, organize and lead/facilitate Workshop such as PHA, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL & LOPA, etc. and follow up with the recommendation/findings.
Perform the following engineering tasks applying the international standards (IEC/NFPA/API/SAUDI ARAMCO STD) and including the required interfaces with other engineering disciplines:
Hazardous area Classification schedule and layout.
Fire protection design basis.
Fire water networks design.
Fire water pumps / fire water tanks calculation and sizing.
Fixed firewater spray systems calculation and design.
Fixed foam system calculation and design.
Fixed gaseous firefighting system calculation and design.
Fire and gas detection system design.
Sufficient knowledge of hazard and risk management, fire and explosion analysis (dispersion analysis), fire protection related studies, formal safety assessments, compartmentation and emergency evacuation routes.
Complete integration with other team members: engineers, designers, and technical personnel in the execution of the project
GCC experience particularly Saudi Aramco experience will be preferred.
Work independently and create a positive work environment.
Experience with firewater demand calculations and equipment requirements, industrial drainage design and equipment, familiarity with the associated Saudi Aramco standards and NFPA requirements are desirable.
Good working knowledge in PIPENET, DNV PHAST and other consequence modeling software.
Responsible for review third party safety studies including QRA, FERA, F&G mapping study, … etc.
Supervise & perform the following technical procurement services:
Material take Material requisitions for the fire protection packages.
Bid evaluations include technical clarifications and technical evaluation reports.
Vendors print review.
Provide technical leadership to ensure that applicable procedures and standards (client, KBR and international) are correctly applied.
Perform the following leading & supervisory duties as a Lead engineer:
Study and review contract conditions included in customers’ tenders.
Manage the fire protection part of internal and external design reviews, 3D models reviews, value engineering reviews and constructability reviews
Quality assurance, quality control and monitoring of the engineering deliverables, activities and outputs including consistency checks, review of technical quality, assure technical compliance with project specifications & requirements, technical support & direction, and managing internal & external quality audits.
Formal measurement of employees’ performance and communicating this to HOD for evaluation purposes and developmental purposes as well as training needs.
Must be proficient in English, oral and written.
Excellent technical presentation skills required.
Qualifications & Years of Experience:
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
10- 15 years’ experience in process safety / technical safety and preferably worked 3-5 years as a lead position in similar projects in oil & gas industry.
