Lead Hardware Engineer

We’re looking for a Lead Hardware Engineer to join our team, reporting to VP, Software Engineering. In this role, you’ll help shape how we design, develop, test and implement high-speed circuits on Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) to improve performance of Nasdaq trading systems.

What You’ll Do:

  • Translate system requirements into FPGA designs using HDL
  • Simulate and debug designs in a virtual environment to ensure functionality before hardware implementation. Create test benches and simulation scenarios.
  • Implement designs on physical FPGA devices. Achieve timing closure and validate system performance. 
  • Work with hardware and software engineers to integrate FPGA products with Nasdaq trading systems.

What You’ll Bring:

Technical skills:

  • Proficiency in VHDL. (Verilog/System Verilog is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of very high speed digital logic design
  • Familiarity with Xilinx FPGA devices (Altera/Intel is a plus)
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and PCIe (high-speed DMA)
  • Familiarity with memory controllers (DDR, HBM
  • Comfortable in a Linux environment

Non-technical skills:

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  •  Education Required:  At least Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Master’s a plus); or equivalent work experience. 
  • Experience Required:  A minimum of 8 years experience in FPGA design 

This position will be located in New York and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is $142,900 - $238,100. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
