Baker Hughes has a new opportunity for Lead Field Project Engineer (FPE) to join the team in Bangalore India.

As a Field Project Engineer, you'll Lead the project execution of Turbomachinery products with highest complexity/intensity & multi-service & different configurations, within Gas technology Equipment’s, engaging with different discipline engineers for packages driven by Electric motor (centrifugal or reciprocating compressor as driven equipment), and packages driven by Gas & Steam Turbines for mechanical drive and power generation application and also Turbo expanders.

You will be the Single technical reference point of contact for Engineering dept. in front of Customer in the phase from Installation & commissioning of turbomachinery equipment to Commercial Operations.

Working in close association with Design Engineering, & Quality team, and Fleet Management functions she/he will coordinate the resolution of the field technical problems and will work closely with Field Service engineering organization to overview the implementation of the identified solutions. Also, establishing a solid connection with Installation manager, Fiels Service engineers (FSE), and Supply Chain team.

As a Lead FPE for Customer Projects, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in troubleshooting issues of various products like Aeroderivative Gas turbines, Electric Motor driven Centrifugal and Reciprocating compressors, Turboexpander, Gearboxes and Auxiliary systems.
  • Lead Customer technical interfaces and related communication. Build solid relationship with customers to guarantee a reliable project execution.
  • Collaborating with Products, Systems Integration, Service, Project Management and Supply Chain to ensure flawless execution as per customer needs.
  • Follow the customer's requirement indicated in contractual technical specifications till handover of the project.
  • Review site markups and coordinate with design engineering to revise the technical documentation for the finalization of As-Builts.
  • Lead customer meetings (kick-off, coordination review, close out,) and action plans to resolve open points.
  • Engineering Lessons Learnt management, Root Cause Analysis and assist in defining & implementing Corrective & Preventive action plan.
  • Coordinate engineering modifications required in field, Execute any additional requests/Change orders with customers.
  • Document management, Non-Conformity Management, FMEA preparation and execution.
  • Leading and managing Quality Processes, assisting in preparation of critical site milestones and KPIs
  • Available to travel to site and spend time with site team to streamline communication and speed up issues resolution.

Fuel your passion

  • Have a Bachelor/master’s degree in engineering discipline, Electrical / Electronics / Controls (preferred); People with other engineering background with relevant experience in Turbomachinery Project Engineering domain could also apply.
  • Have minimum 10 years of technical experience on Control systems and Rotating machinery working at Project sites.
  • Requires knowledge and hand-on experience on Control Systems like MarkVIe, MarkVIeS SIL System, Proficy Machine Edition, PLCs, DCS etc. (Preferred)
  • Ability to interpret the Control logics and troubleshoot Operational issues of the Systems.
  • Have experience in interpreting Engineering & Technical documents like Process & instrument diagrams (P&ID), Wiring diagrams etc.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Project Engineering/Management handling large Projects.
  • Be Six Sigma Green Belt certified (optional)
  • Be fluent in English on both oral and written communication (Italian knowledge is an added advantage) and hold a valid passport.
  • Knowledge on any of the Baker Hughes or equivalent OEM Products or Technologies such as Aeroderivative Gas Turbines or Motor driven Centrifugal compressors.
