Trade Finance and Lending (TF&L) is one of the leading business departments in the Corporate Bank, working with clients around the globe. It has critical dependencies on IT platforms to service the Bank’s clients. The group has embarked on a front-to-back modernisation of our lending platforms, moving away from manual processes and monolithic architecture to a cloud-compliant, event-driven architecture with reusable technology stacks to achieve the next level of business processes automation.

You will be working in a team comprised of engineers, analysts and a product owner. The team is focused on delivering key applications for the Corporate Bank business. The software components and architecture which you will be contributing towards will create the foundations to build and extend the wider trade finance application landscape, as well as making Trade Finance and Lending a flagship implementation within the Corporate Bank.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and maintainable Java-based solutions. You will be expected to be hands-on as part of delivery
  • Identifying and resolving barriers to business deliveries and implementing solutions which iteratively deliver value
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software within tight timelines
  • Drive best practices in software development, including automated testing, code reviews, and documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making

Your skills and experience

  • Deep knowledge of Java SE, standard libraries, design patterns, and industry-standard frameworks (e.g., Spring)
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous and event-driven systems
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, Artifactory, TeamCity, or similar
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and deliver results in iterative cycles
  • Solid experience with relational databases like Oracle and PostgreSQL
  • Proven track record in designing and delivering highly complex, distributed systems
