This role is responsible for the design and development of high-quality, engaging global technical training for both the Industrial Solutions OTR team and customer product training. This role partners with OTR leadership, project stakeholders, and subject matter experts to identify goals, audience, project scope, content, and delivery method for each course. Training deliverables could include instructor-led training, e-learning, or a blended learning solution.

As a Lead Education Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, improving automation/configuration/processes.
  • Utilizing Project planning and tools to delivery training materials on time.
  • Supporting the growth of the training & services of businesses by assisting sales and services teams in understanding the value of product offering and in the generation of quotations.
  • Assessing global training needs to support new and existing product & solution competency for various organizational team members.
  • Creating and executing project plans to ensure course requirements are met and course development is completed on time.
  • Soliciting and integrating input from stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure courses meets business needs.
  • Applying proven instructional design strategies, methods, and tools.
  • Writing course design documents, learning objectives, course content, scenarios, media scripts, practice activities, and posttests.
  • Creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances learning transfer and retention.
  • Defining, creating, and implementing assessments that measure training effectiveness.
  • Work with e-learning developers to design modules using course authoring software, such as Articulate (Storyline and Rise) and Captivate.
  • Leading initiatives as assigned for driving the adoption of new competency and changes.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in oil & gas and/or power generation.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with training
  • Be proficient in using Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent time & project management skills, including the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with shifting priorities and fluctuating deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively navigate a matrixed environment. 
  • Ability to escalate hurdles & roadblocks in a timely manner
  • Prompt and studious characteristics with a desire to contribute to organizational success.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, if needed.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with coursework in instructional design, adult education principles, training design and delivery techniques.
  • Experience in creating technical training materials for adult learning in multi-media delivery environments, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to adapt to new challenges and be successful in a changing business environment.
  • Ability to learn new technologies such as the Cordant™ Suite of solutions
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, progressive, and transformational environment.
  • Ability to effectively interact with engineers and comprehend highly technical content.
  • Experience with Baker Hughes services based around Bently Nevada™ Hardware and Software deployment.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.

The annual pay scale for this position is between $93,400.00 - $173,500.00.

Candidates for this role (office-based/ hybrid/ remote) must be located in or near the locations displayed above. The pay range/scale displayed above represents Baker Hughes’ good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position at the time of this posting and applies to the possible locations for this position. Baker Hughes will issue a non-bias competitive offer; the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hires, full-time salaries in some U.S. locations, not including equity or benefits. Where an applicant will ultimately fall within the pay range/scale depends on a variety of factors, including, for example, geographic work location, skillset, qualifications, internal pay alignment, level of experience, and demonstrated performance over time. Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role and does not include other forms of compensation.
