The Institutional Portfolio Management (IPM) department drives strategic execution across the WGU System by coordinating portfolios of initiatives and programs that align with 5-Year Strategic Plans. We lead critical transformation efforts for executive leaders, design innovative business processes to boost productivity and scale, and proactively identify enterprise-level risks. Our focus is on building core capabilities in Agile Innovation, Portfolio Management, and Rapid Technology Development, while maximizing efficiency through cost reduction and waste elimination.

The Role: Lead Business Process Engineer
The Lead Business Process Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and implementing institutional business processes optimized to support growth, service levels, and cost performance across WGU’s schools and shared services. You’ll lead the largest and most important strategic transformation projects, working closely with senior leadership, business unit heads, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with WGU’s strategic goals.
This is a high-impact, visible role focused on technical excellence, people management, and organizational change. You’ll guide teams through process transformation initiatives, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive adoption of innovative solutions.
