Program Summary
KBR leads the government services world contingency market by providing responsive, full-service logistics support to forces deployed around the world under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract (LOGCAP). Job Summary
As a Sr. Maintenance Technician COMSEC/C5ISR, you will serve as a subject matter expert in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced Communications Security (COMSEC) and C5ISR systems. This position ensures secure, reliable communications and mission-critical system integrity for military and defense operations. The role includes leadership responsibilities, technical oversight, and compliance with DoD security standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead installation, configuration, and maintenance of COMSEC and C5ISR systems, including cryptographic devices, tactical radios, satellite communications, and secure networking equipment.
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs using specialized TMDE (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators).
- Manage cryptographic keying material and execute EKMS/KMI operations in compliance with NSA and DoD directives.
- Oversee system integration for tactical platforms and ensure interoperability across multiple communication systems.
- Conduct security audits and enforce COMSEC handling procedures to prevent compromise of classified material.
- Provide technical mentorship and training to junior technicians and supported units.
- Prepare detailed maintenance reports, update GCSS-Army records, and ensure accountability of Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI).
- Coordinate with engineering teams for system upgrades, MWOs, and lifecycle sustainment planning.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Electronics, IT, or related field required.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in COMSEC and C5ISR systems maintenance and integration.
- Strong knowledge of Army Technical Manuals, wiring diagrams, and DoD security protocols.
- Proficiency in EKMS/KMI operations and COMSEC accountability procedures.
- Ability to lead teams and manage complex technical projects under field conditions.
- Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled environments, outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to team lift up to 50 pounds in a two-person carry.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must be free of medical restriction/ limitations that prevent the wearing and utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and background checks related to the position.
- Must be able to climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
- Must be able to work in cramped areas for at least two continuous hours.
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, and snow and sleet.
- Employees shall utilize all proper lifting procedures and practices associated with all lifting and material handling tasks that are assigned and associated with this job description
- Requires a valid passport with at least 12 months of validity and 6 blank pages.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Certified COMSEC Technician (CCT) and/or C5ISR Systems Certification.
- DoD 8140/8570 cybersecurity certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
- GCSS-Army experience and familiarity with Army maintenance systems.
- Advanced knowledge of IP networking, secure communications protocols, and satellite systems.
- Experience with Type 1 cryptographic devices and tactical integration projects.
- Experience and ability to work effectively with non-native English speakers strongly preferred.
- Prior overseas professional experience.
