The Senior General Accountant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s accounting and statutory requirements related to Payroll, Benefits, and Incentives, with a deep focus on employee compensation, taxes, and statutory benefits across multiple countries in the LATAM region. This role partners closely with HR and Finance teams to deliver accurate and timely financials. The position requires strong technical accounting skills, regional expertise, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, multicultural environment.

 

About the Job 

Accounting & Compliance

  • Collaborate with payroll vendors and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely general ledger export of payroll data.

  • Prepare and review payroll and incentive journal entries using both internal and external data sources across LATAM entities ensuring proper classification and posting to financial systems.

  • Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations as assigned resolving discrepancies in coordination with Finance and HR.

  • Maintain adequate documentation and ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, internal controls, and company accounting policies.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll-related financial reports to support internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support both external audits and internal reviews by providing accurate documentation, reconciliation and analysis.

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting compensation, benefits, and incentive expenses by compiling relevant data and providing financial insights.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with HR to align payroll, benefits, and incentive data with employee records.

  • Work with Finance to ensure accurate GL postings and cost allocations.

  • Provide guidance and support to regional teams on payroll, benefits, and incentive accounting matters.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll, benefits, and incentive accounting processes.

  • Partner with various teams to implement automation and system enhancements to improve accuracy and efficiency.

 

About You 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll and benefits accounting, preferably in a multinational environment.

  • Strong knowledge of LATAM labor laws and payroll regulations.

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Workday).

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).

  • Fluent in Spanish

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

  • Experience working with multicultural teams and remote environments.
