About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Laboratory Services Manager to provide leadership and oversight of laboratory operations within the College of Science and Engineering. In this pivotal role, you will ensure our teaching and research laboratories are safe, well-resourced, and operating efficiently to support world-class learning and discovery.

Working in close partnership with academic and professional staff, you will lead technical service teams, manage laboratory infrastructure and equipment, and champion a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Your expertise will help shape the strategic development of laboratory services that align with the College’s teaching and research priorities.

As the Laboratory Services Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, developing, and supporting a team of technical professionals who deliver high-quality laboratory services across teaching and research areas.
  • Overseeing day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient management of facilities, equipment, and technical resources.
  • Building strong partnerships with academic and research staff to align laboratory operations with College priorities.
  • Managing laboratory budgets, procurement, maintenance, and resource planning to support sustainable and effective service delivery.
  • Driving innovation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance laboratory capability and user experience.

About You

You are a skilled and proactive leader with a strong background in laboratory operations and a proven ability to lead teams through change and continuous improvement. With a tertiary qualification in a relevant science or engineering discipline (or equivalent experience), you bring:

  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams in a complex teaching or research environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory operations, equipment, and infrastructure management.
  • A strong understanding of WHS, compliance, and risk management within laboratory settings.
