The Laboratory Manager role is to lead day to day operations within the analytical laboratories; ensuring analytical testing for release and stability testing is performed in accordance with product registrations and GMP standards.

In this role you will…

  • Ensure raw materials, packaging materials, product intermediates, bulk product and finished product (release and stability) are tested in accordance with registration and regulatory GMP standards.
  • Ensure finished product, intermediate and raw/packaging material samples are taken, stored and disposed of in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the above testing is conducted and recorded in accordance with Data Integrity requirements and using appropriately validated methods and qualified and calibrated equipment. 
  • Identify, embed and maintain appropriate safety and quality standards within the laboratory and identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor appropriate performance metrics and product/method performance trends to identify and implement improvement plans as required.
  • Ensure QC staff are adequately qualified and experience to perform their duties and that all staff are appropriately trained.
  • Ensure the GSK GPS system is embedded within their areas and that all members of the team understand and actively participate in setting and maintaining GPS standards.
  • Support internal and external inspection activities and take accountability for always maintaining an inspection ready state within the laboratories.
  • Support the Laboratory Operations Director in identification and delivery of annual performance objectives within the team.
  • Deputise for the Laboratory Operations Director as required.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree level qualification in relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role within a laboratory/QC testing environment.
  • Experience in preparing for and fronting regulatory inspections.
