Group Leader
The Group Leader leads and directs a team in daily activities and is instrumental in the mentoring and development of team members in obtaining career aspirations.
Position Summary
This position is 100% on-site at the Greenville site.
Catalent’s Greenville, N.C. facility specializes in end-to-end turn-key solutions for oral solid dosage forms, including integrated formulation development, analytical services, commercial manufacturing, and packaging. This state-of-the-art facility has had over $100M of investments in recent years and features fit-for-scale capacity with potent handling capabilities, ideal for orphan or targeted drug development.
The Group Leader is responsible for maintaining laboratory internal business units and external client relationships to ensure the highest level of service and responsiveness, which includes supporting internal non-commercial clients, external clients, and commercial processes and projects.
The Role
Lead and direct a team of supervisory personnel and other laboratory analytical team members at various levels.
Development and performance management of direct reports including training, coaching and mentoring, goal setting, performance evaluation and feedback, approves performance reviews for group members.
Resolve conflicts within the group relating to performance and/or workload, ensure proper resource allocation within team(s), oversee timesheet review and planning and scheduling spreadsheet.
Work to create an environment of open communication, participation and information-sharing within and between teams within Analytical and throughout facility.
Direct analytical oversight for internal commercial processes and projects as well as external client projects, supporting microbiological and chemical analysis of excipients, active ingredients, components and finished products.
Direct oversight of microbiological and cleaning verification staff supporting pre-commercial and commercial manufacturing including environmental monitoring.
Recommend approaches for scientific and quality control strategies to facilitate overall project and process success; set specifications for tests and monitor process, product, utility and environmental control.
Solve problems with methods, instruments, products or processes; interpret and trend data generated, escalate notification procedures as appropriate.

The Candidate
Associate degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or equivalent science degree with 11 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry or;
BS or BA degree in a science-related field (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences) with 10 years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry or;
Master’s degree in a science-related field with eight years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry or;
PhD in a science-related field with six years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
Professional Microbiological and Cleaning Verification experience is required for Micro/CV Group.
Position requires the ability to lift 10-50lbs, unassisted.
Majority of the work day is performed while standing, walking, lifting, pulling, and pushing.
Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
Some exposure to hazardous chemical and other active chemical ingredients.
