The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is seeking a full-time Laboratory Compliance Inspector, the annual salary for this position is up to $ 67,000 based on education and experience. This is a state position governed by the Civil Service Rules, in state government located in Oklahoma City, OK. The Laboratory Compliance Inspector works to ensure that proper procedures are implemented according to state law and agency rules. This position works with OMMA management to direct and supervise work activities in assigned areas of responsibility, projects, and programs, on a regular and consistent basis. Specifically, the position assists the daily activities of OMMA Laboratory compliance in accordance with agency rules and state laws. The Laboratory Inspector also offers OMMA analytical laboratory licensees’ guidance and direction for how to operate within the parameters of the laws and regulations. This position assists with tracking all operations within lab compliance to include complaint processing, tracking to assure investigations and inspections are completed, reporting is complete and accurate, notices and case files are organized, and other final action is completed and reported accurately. This position works collaboratively with the OMMA Laboratory Compliance Manager and staff on investigations, complaints, and inspections as needed, and may assist with non-lab compliance inspections and investigations as needed.
Coordinates the implementation and evaluation of lab inspection procedures for existing and new medical marijuana licensed laboratory, as required by state laws and rules.
Write concise reports based on findings, consult with OMMA Laboratory Compliance Manager and agency attorneys to build case files.
Supports training and development of new field staff.
Attends all trainings and meetings as part of the departmental learning and development plan.
Adheres to all Oklahoma State, OMMA, and the Science Department’s policies and procedures.
Coordinates laboratory inspection activities by scheduling and tracking all forms of compliance investigations and inspections that involve assuring procedures are implemented correctly and monitored within prescribed time frame.
Guarantees evaluation and standardization of lab inspection protocols and processes.
Coordinates the quality assurance methods that will be imbedded when validating those inspections are conducted in accordance with state laws and other pertinent rules.
Conducts follow-up inspections and surveys to ensure corrective actions have been taken.
Serves as point person for lab entities being inspected, which includes performing follow-up visits, building case files and sending notices of violations for corrective actions being issued.
Assists in the coordination, provision and collection of reporting requirements for Medical Marijuana licensed entities.
Testifies in hearings, court cases, and assists legal staff in preparation of hearing and court cases.
Works through laboratory complaints investigates, analyzes and makes recommendations to the appropriate parties and documents within the prescribed mechanism.
Provides analysis of laboratory compliance data and technical information, identifies potential problems, offers advice, and provides solutions; seeks clarification of issues and provides feedback; makes recommendations to OMMA laboratory leadership team that support efficiency to achieve objectives.
Proficiently communicates ideas and information through verbal and written channels, leveraging computer skills to efficiently organize data and generate insightful reports.
Maintains effective working relationships with others.
Responds to program-related inquiries from the general public.

Education and Experience requirements at this level consists of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, agricultural science, environmental science, criminal justice, public administration, public health, environmental science, or closely related field, or five (5) years of professional experience conducting regulatory investigations in accordance with applicable principles and practices; or other comparable experience.
Preference qualification will be given to candidate with 5 years of professional experience working in a laboratory setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required include knowledge of regulatory licensing programs or agricultural practices, operational procedures, rules pertaining to state laws and mandates, IT licensing platforms; multiple communication techniques for customer service; laws, codes, rules, and regulations for inspection and investigative methods and procedures; record keeping and report writing methods; and safety concepts, rules, and codes. Skills required include skill in using computer software and applications for report writing, analysis, and record-keeping, communicating clearly and effectively in stressful situations and environments. Abilities required include the ability to apply administrative principles and practices; communicate effectively in written and oral form; be a productive team member; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners, stakeholders, and licensees.
Office environment – 40% work is typically performed in an office setting with a climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. Occasionally, outdoor work in varying weather conditions is required. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long period of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Ability to drive for hours at a time. Travel – up to 60% in state required. Applicants must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position.
