What is a Labor Relations Coordinator?
The Labor Relations Coordinator provides administrative and operational support to the labor relations team. This role ensures the smooth execution of labor relations processes and helps maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements and labor laws.
What does a Labor Relations Coordinator do?
Serves as the administrator for internal bargaining unit tests and supports recruiting with external testing
Performs Workday transactions for the Labor Relations team to support HRIS administrators and supervisors
Provides support to the Labor Relations team in the administration of contractual provisions
Assists in preparing reports, presentations, and documentation for negotiations and hearings
Provides reports to union as required by CBAs
Performs weekly reviews of payroll reports to ensure contract compliance
Provides general advice and counsel to supervision on basic contract terms
Assists in the coordination of meetings and calendars for the HR team
Provides general administrative support as needed to HR team including assisting with recruitment, benefits, and training related initiatives as assigned
Supports storm/emergency restoration efforts
What does it take to be a Labor Relations Coordinator?
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate’s degree in human resources or a related field and at least 2 years of related work experience. In lieu of an associate’s degree, a high school diploma or equivalency degree and 4 years of related work experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Excellent Critical thinking skills
Extremely organized with attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information
A valid driver’s license
Preferred:
Direct work experience in Human Resources, Labor Relations, etc.
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws including but not limited to FLSA, Title VII, NYPFL, and ADA.
