Job Responsibilities –
Perform all required microbiological testing, including total plate count, yeast & mold, coliform, etc.
Aseptically collect samples from in-process products, finished goods, ingredients, fluid ingredients from silos, and by-products (e.g., whey).
Conduct environmental monitoring such as ATP swabs, indicator swabs, airflow and air quality testing, and water testing.
Perform organoleptic evaluations for milk and cheese products.
Conduct analytical testing including moisture, fat, pH, total solids, titratable acidity, and salt content.
Prepare all media, solutions, and materials necessary for laboratory testing.
Set up, operate, maintain, clean, and calibrate all laboratory equipment, including automated testing devices. Use computer software (e.g., Word, Excel) for data entry and reporting.
Follow established procedures to ensure accuracy of results and adhere to all safety protocols.
Perform quality-related tasks such as shelf-life evaluations and rotation.
Immediately report any unusual results or product defects to the QA Supervisor/Manager and perform necessary rechecks.
Maintain inventory of lab supplies and keep the work area clean and organized.
Assist in training new laboratory personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
An associate degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, or a related field.
1–3 years of laboratory experience or equivalent education/experience in the food industry.
Experience with SAP and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Skills in aseptic sampling, swabbing, equipment calibration, sensory evaluation, shelf-life testing, and use of lab equipment such as FT-1, CEM, Smart Trac, and pH meters.
Availability to work day shift, with flexibility to rotate across all three shifts as needed.
Hourly pay rate: $24.31
