Job Description Summary
The processing operator operates and adjusts all process equipment for smooth and productive operations; monitors line flow and waste; corrects problems which affect quality and production costs; and, makes line changes as directed by the production lead or supervisor. Additionally, the Line 3 Process Operator is responsible for the Sanitation of Line 3 coordinating as needed with Operators to ensure all sanitation duties are completed.

Performs Sanitation duties throughout the line this comprises the majority of the job duties..
Changes water knives as needed.
Performs waste evaluations and changes grader screens as needed.
Fills in an operates all processing equipment on Line 3 including the L3 Fryer.
Must become qualified as Line 3 Fryer Operator and will be included in the scheduling of overtime for the Fryer operator group.
Maintains even line flow.
Monitors and maintains product quality and attributes.
Communicates with other personnel: line status, quality, and other problems.
Must understand function and hazards of various cleaning chemicals
Must be able to perform various product quality testing procedures.
Must be able to work independently.
Shoveling product spills.
Completes production forms as required.
Enters checks into computer.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Sanitation of all areas of Line 3 including packaging.
Breaking of other areas.
Performs weekend cleanup as assigned.

Most job functions are performed inside the peeler and cutter areas. Constantly working on wet, slippery floors. At times, the temperature will rise to 100 degrees or over, high humidity, and lots of equipment vibration and noise.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of plant operations and experience working around equipment is desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate information to supervisors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Tools and equipment used are as follows: high pressure hoses, shovels, squeegee, hammer, and hazardous chemicals.
