The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services.
As a Kitchen Hand, this is your opportunity to assist in preparing quality meals at The Beacon adhering to food safety standards and in accordance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures.
Reporting to the Head Chef, this is a casual position based in Northbridge, WA.
Adhere to cleaning, food preparation, presentation and food service procedures and standards.
Follow directions regarding portion control, cooking standards and wastage.
Prepare meals according to menu requirements.
Serve meals efficiently in an organised way at the stipulated times.
Ensure the kitchen is clean, equipment is washed and stored correctly in accordance with hygiene standards including utilisation of authorised cleaning products
Experience in kitchen work as an assistant or kitchenhand capacity
Knowledge of OSH principles and practices.
Certificate level qualification in food hygiene or equivalent (desired)
Knowledge of kitchen equipment, their safety use and management (desirable).
Able to undertake basic manual duties.
National police record check
Current WA Drivers licence
