The Role

As a Junior Database Administrator, you will assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases, ensuring proper functionality and availability. You will also participate in monitoring tasks, basic troubleshooting, and provide support to developers and users.

This job role requires participation in 24x7 on-call rotations.
Work location: Barcelona
Hybrid work model: 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and configuring new databases following security policies.
  • Help maintain production environments to ensure availability and performance.
  • Support troubleshooting of technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Work alongside developers to implement configurations based on requirements.
  • Keep documentation updated for installations and changes.
  • Learn and contribute to automation and optimization tasks.
  • Maintain clear communication and a positive attitude.

Who You Are

Technical and Professional Requirements

  • Desired experience: 1–2 years in database administration or related internships.
  • Basic knowledge of:
    • Oracle Database
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • PostgreSQL
  • Preferred:
    • Familiarity with MongoDB and ElasticSearch
    • Basic scripting skills (bash, PowerShell)
    • Understanding of backup systems
  • Interest in learning about:
    • High Availability and Disaster Recovery
    • Monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios)
    • Cybersecurity principles

Languages Required

  • Spanish
  • Intermediate English
  • Catalan

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar.
  • Preferred: Courses or certifications in databases.
