A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Junior Data Manager is responsible for managing various information technology projects, ensuring the implementation of data validation workflows, and utilizing data management systems this role will be responsible for a full range of duties including:

  • Become familiar with relational theory and database management systems such as MSSQL and PostgreSQL

  • Utilize and modify work products produced with data visualization software such as Tableau or Power BI to empower internal experts with tools for data driven decision making

  • Utilize and modify existing internal quality control measures to investigate and resolve data quality issues, escalating situations according to departmental processes

  • Gain basic understanding of relevant laboratory services to monitor, process, and provide feedback regarding laboratory deliverables

  • Produce metrics and reports, integrating multiple data streams to consistently provide deliverables on time and within budget, conforming to internal and external client expectations

  • Utilize and modify work products produced with geographic information systems (GIS) software such as ESRI ArcGIS Pro or QGIS to empower internal experts with tools for data driven decision making

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, environmental science, or related scientific field preferred

  • 0 – 2 years of experience as a data manager or equivalent position with previous employer

  • Proficiency in Windows-based platforms and the Microsoft Office suite is required

  • Proficient in communicating at all levels of the organization

  • Possess good organizational and scheduling skills and have ability to prioritize
