The Judicial Staff Trainer/Coordinator designs and implements training programs and protocols to ensure proper education of the department’s staff, manages ongoing departmental training, and provides day to day supervision and mentoring of staff.

Position Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma
Experience:
Five (5) years of court, legal or related experience
OR
Combined Education and Experience Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of post-secondary education may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
Our Preferred Candidate Has:
One (1) year of experience as a trainer or facilitator of training in a professional setting.
Knowledge of Probate and Mental Health legal processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
Completion of the Arizona Court Supervisor (ACS) program and/or Arizona Court Manager (ACM) program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Court policies and procedures, legal terminology, office procedures and practices.
Knowledge and competency in Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Legal requirements for processing court documents.
Issues pertaining to area of assignment.
Customer service standards and procedures.
Skill in:
Verbal and written communication.
Coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others.
Creating, composing, and editing written materials.
The use of personal computers and related software applications.
Ability to:
Understand and follow instructions quickly and accurately; both oral and written.
Willing and able to quickly learn new software programs and other computer or database applications.
Able to quickly adapt to changing priorities and directives in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Tasks
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
Provides daily supervision, on-boarding and ongoing oversight and guidance to staff.
Coordinates and ensures judicial support staff coverage in courtrooms to provide appropriate personnel resources to Judicial Officers.
Manages the ongoing departmental training, including that occurring during semi-annual judicial rotations.
Assists Department Presiding Judge create content and materials for judicial officer training.
Designs and implements training programs and protocols to ensure proper education of the department’s staff.
Provides general training, mentoring, and support to staff throughout the year
Monitors department's staff performance to ensure consistency.
Acts as a liaison between judicial staff, Court Administration, and Court Technology Services.
Oversees creation and maintenance of departmental manuals and training materials.
Assists in providing training in computer operation, use of electronic courtrooms, and other general staff topics.
Works with Court Administration to resolve ad hoc issues in Probate and Mental Health divisions, judicial education and training, rotation planning, and other matters designated by the departmental presiding judge or department administrator.
Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
