The IT Operations team of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has an exciting opportunity for a IT Operations Support Engineer. This position provides technical assistance to users experiencing computer-related issues, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network problems. They install, configure, and maintain IT systems, ensuring smooth operation and user satisfaction. This role involves responding to support requests, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions, often acting as the first point of contact for users. This is a full-time remote position. Residency within 100 miles of the Kansas City, Missouri office is required.
Responsibilities Include
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, and networks.
Installation and Configuration: Setting up and configuring computer systems, software, and network components.
System Maintenance: Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks to ensure optimal performance and security.
User Support: Providing technical assistance to users via phone, email, or in person, guiding them through troubleshooting steps.
Documentation: Maintaining records of issues, solutions, and system configurations.
Communication: Clearly communicating technical information to users and collaborating with other IT teams.
Escalation: Recognizing when to escalate complex issues to specialized teams or higher-level support.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Required
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Associates Degree in Applied Science specific to Computer Science and one to three years customer service or related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working understanding of automations and scripting languages; Ability to use tools to create testing scripts for regression and load testing after patches have been applied.

Adaptability: Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing IT environments
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of the entire development life cycle is preferred (analysis, design, construction, implementation, and following it through to the evolution phases).
Compensation
Starting at $70,521 up to $82,000. To be commensurate with experience and education.
