The Role: IT Intern
Our Entegris Business Service Centre (EBSC) in Bayan Lepas is looking for an IT Intern to join our global support team. As an IT Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting Entegris employees with basic IT issues and contributing to service improvement initiatives. This internship is designed to provide exposure to IT support operations, knowledge management, and collaboration across teams.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide Tier 1 IT support to employees via phone, chat, and self-service platforms, focusing on common technical issues and service requests.
- Assist in logging and tracking service desk tickets, ensuring accurate documentation of issues and resolutions.
- Support the team in updating and maintaining the IT Knowledge Base, including documenting solutions and frequently asked questions.
- Shadow and learn from experienced team members in incident and problem management processes.
- Help identify recurring issues and contribute ideas for improving support processes.
- Collaborate with the IT Learning Team to review and suggest updates to training materials and self-help guides.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on service improvement opportunities.
- Learning Outcomes:
o Understand the fundamentals of IT Service Management (ITSM) and support workflows.
o Gain experience using ticketing systems and knowledge management tools.
o Develop communication and problem-solving skills in a technical support environment.
o Learn how IT teams collaborate to deliver efficient and user-friendly services.
What We Seek:
- · Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum CGPA of 3.00.
- Internship duration of at least 24 weeks.
- Willingness to work in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to assist users professionally and empathetically across various support channels.
- Demonstrates initiative and eagerness to learn, with attention to detail and adaptability in a fast-paced team environment.
- Comfortable interacting with employees across different levels via chat, email, phone, and ticketing systems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document solutions clearly.
- Open to sharing ideas and contributing to process improvements, with a mindset focused on learning and collaboration.
- Able to manage multiple tasks with guidance, including routine support work and small assignments.
- Interest in maintaining accurate documentation and understanding its role in effective IT support.
- Exposure to or interest in ITIL best practices is a plus.
