About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced IT Asset Management (ITAM) Specialist to establish, lead, and mature The Salvation Army’s national IT Asset Management framework.
In this pivotal role, you’ll take full ownership of the lifecycle of over 8,000 leased computers, 3,500 mobile devices, and 10,000+ software licenses, ensuring every asset delivers value, compliance, and stewardship consistent with our mission.
This is a permanent, full time, position based out of Blackburn, Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and evolve an IT Asset Management framework aligned with ISO 55001 principles
- Maintain an accurate and comprehensive asset register (CMDB) spanning hardware, software, and mobile infrastructure
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of IT assets from procurement and leasing through deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning
- Define and enforce policies and governance around asset allocation, retention, end-of-life, and secure disposal
- Ensure license and contract compliance, avoiding overuse, waste, or penalties
- Partner with Finance, Procurement, Legal, and Service Desk teams to embed asset management in organisational processes and vendor agreements
- Provide regular reporting on asset performance, cost, depreciation, and optimisation opportunities
- Champion continuous improvement, leveraging automation and data insights to improve visibility, efficiency, and sustainability
About You:
- A degree or diploma in Information Technology, Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience in IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, or related infrastructure asset roles preferably in large, distributed organisations
- Certification in IT Asset Management or IT Service Management, such as:
- IAITAM Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) or equivalent
- ITIL v4 Foundation (minimum) — ideally with Service Asset and Configuration Management focus
- ISO 55000 / Asset Management Council (AMC) Fundamentals certification (highly desirable)
- Deep knowledge of hardware, software licensing, leasing contracts, and CMDB/asset tracking tools
- Proven ability to create policies, manage vendors, and influence cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
- Experience implementing ISO 55001 or Asset Management Council frameworks
