Leads IT projects by utilizing the IS Business Solution Fulfillment process. Acts as a role model to peers and project team members. Adheres to project management best practices while producing artifacts and deliverables that support the success of projects and project teams. Recognizes that effective project management requires adherence to a methodology while also leading projects with customer-focused communications, sound judgement, responsiveness to changing business and end-user needs, and is committed to quality implementations.
Project delivery includes:
•Clearly and thoughtfully plans for project delivery; establishes milestones and reports progress. Develops project scope, project plans, test plans and go-live plans in compliance with IS Business Solution Fulfillment.
•Has the ability to flex between traditional waterfall and agile project methodologies; leading in a way that results in the best outcomes for individual projects.
•Actively translates complex business needs into actionable requirements and tasks to be completed by the project team
•Manages project resource capacity, ensuring that required capacity is properly allocated.
•Expertly facilitates virtual and in-person meetings with diverse team members, from senior leaders to technical teams. Engages cross-functional stakeholders to solicit feedback and ensure customer satisfaction.
•Motivates the project team throughout the project, including forming a close partnership with project stakeholders, and managing project changes and challenges daily.
•Proactively manages and anticipates roadblocks for the project team; partners with impacted stakeholders to ensure risks are managed, contingency plans are in place and deliverables are met.
•Transparently reports on and is readily apprised of each project's current performance against the approved budget, schedule, resources, and quality.
•Develops and delivers presentations to various audiences, including project teams, sponsors, CIO and key stakeholders.
•Facilitates retrospectives post go-live. Reports on the post-implementation project results, including results compared with the project’s success criteria and the overall quality of the implementations.
•Exemplifies and supports a team branding of excellence by delivering on commitments and ensuring quality results.
Duties & responsibilities:
•Concurrent project work - Has the ability to manage multiple, concurrent large (in excess of 400 hours) projects.
•Collaborates - Works collaboratively with all areas of IT to achieve project-based objectives. May manage sub-components of enterprise-wide initiatives and/or support peers with project management. Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to organizational dynamics and provides positive encouragement when engaging both team members and customers.
•Proactive - Works proactively and independently, showing sound judgement and decision-making competencies.
•Professionalism - Interacts with project team, senior leadership, and physicians with tact and diplomacy.
•Influence - Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view. Exercises sound judgement and decision-making competencies.
•Communication - Demonstrates highly effective and comprehensive verbal and non-verbal communication skills with a wide variety of personnel and customers. Prepares and presents project status and system demonstrations to senior management, leadership and physicians.
•Stakeholder Partnership - Completes project status reports and manages change requests, balancing the needs of the project team with the strategic needs of the Organization.
•Project Management Acumen - Manages project progress against scope and project plans, escalating issues to the responsible team leader and executive sponsor/project steering committee.
•Business Acumen - Delivers services that are complete, correct and aligned with organization goals. Understands interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs. Demonstrates high-level knowledge of customers’ processes, workflows and industry issues. Collaborates with application teams to document the users' functional specifications and delivery successful solutions.
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s or master’s degree in healthcare IT, computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field. 10 years' experience in Healthcare IT (in lieu of degree required).
•Has completed PMP certification or degree. If PM degree, PMP certification is in process.
