You can make GDIT your place. You make it your own by turning obstacles into action. By owning your opportunity at GDIT, you’ll play an important role in providing the technologies and services that millions of healthcare professionals depend on, every day. Our work depends on an Inventory & Warehouse Technician joining our team to support GDIT activities at our Vienna, VA office location (daily onsite requirement).

The Inventory & Warehouse Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and lifecycle management of IT hardware assets. This position bridges physical warehouse operations with digital asset tracking, ensuring compliance with IT Asset Management (ITAM) frameworks and leveraging ServiceNow Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for full asset visibility, traceability, and governance.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:

1. Asset Lifecycle Management

  • Receive, inspect, and record all incoming IT hardware assets (e.g., laptops, servers, peripherals) in ServiceNow HAM and CMDB.
  • Tag and label assets with unique identifiers (barcodes or RFID) to maintain traceability.
  • Track assets through their lifecycle stages: procurement, deployment, maintenance, recovery, and disposal.
  • Coordinate with ITAM and Configuration Management teams to ensure asset records align with procurement, financial, and CMDB systems.

2. ServiceNow HAM & CMDB Administration

  • Create, update, and maintain accurate Configuration Items (CIs) and asset records in ServiceNow HAM and the CMDB.
  • Reconcile physical inventory with CMDB and HAM records to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Support automated and manual workflows for asset requests, approvals, transfers, and retirements.
  • Generate and analyze asset and CI reports to support audits, compliance, and lifecycle forecasting.
  • Collaborate with ITAM and Configuration Management teams to improve CMDB data integrity, relationships, and automation processes.
  • Identify and correct discrepancies between physical assets and CMDB entries to maintain a single source of truth.

3. Inventory Control & Warehouse Operations

  • Manage physical inventory storage, organization, and security within the warehouse.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventories to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Coordinate shipping, receiving, and logistics for IT equipment between sites.
  • Maintain ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety and environmental standards.
  • Ensure obsolete or end-of-life assets are securely wiped and disposed of per company policy and environmental regulations.

4. Compliance, Audit, and Data Integrity

  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate asset and CMDB data.
  • Enforce ITAM and Configuration Management policies related to asset tagging, ownership, and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 19770-1 ITAM and ITIL Configuration Management standards.
  • Ensure all hardware changes, moves, additions, and disposals are promptly reflected in the CMDB and HAM modules.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED :

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 yrs of Warehousing Logistic Operation and Inventory Management experience required. In lieu of degree, 6 yrs of related experience is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Hardware and Software troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to obtain or maintain ServiceNow certification
  • Location: Daily onsite requirement in Vienna, VA office location

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Service Now Hardware Certification
  • Experience working with Active Directory, SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) and CMDB (Service Now Configuration Manager Database Module)
  • Forklift certification
