This internship provides the opportunity to work on cutting edge space programmes, for customers such as the European Space Agency, within the Avionics Systems organization of Airbus Space Systems. This technical role will involve working in the area of development, test and delivery of state-of-the-art data processes and solutions for spacecraft engineering.

Avionics Systems is an organisation within Airbus Space Systems that builds the functional part of a spacecraft. This includes defining the operational concept, developing and validating on-board software, and developing a simulator of the spacecraft, among many other things. One of the central elements of our spacecraft is the System Reference Database (SRDB) that contains a digital representation of  the Avionics architecture, and serves as the central engineering and data hub for the Avionics design.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Isolating and resolving issues in the Avionics design of a space vehicle

  • Importing or manually injecting new data into the SRDB

  • Extracting or querying a subset of data of the Avionics design of a space vehicle

  • Ensuring data consistency via queries and scripts

  • Developing new or adapting existing scripts

  • Testing and validating new database technologies and products

  • Other supportive work on ongoing programs and projects

 Desired skills and qualifications

  • Fluent in English.

  • Aerospace or astronautical engineering with an interest for and first experience in model-based (systems) engineering OR informatics with a strong interest in data management and engineering of space vehicles

  • The ability to listen, understand and communicate information

  • The desire to work in a collaborative environment

  • An interest in building systems

  • A strong interest in developing yourself

  • The ability to find creative solutions to complex problems

  • The ability to explore and elaborate new subjects on your own

  • Enjoy working in a transnational environment
