Nelnet is a corporate taxpayer with a strong appetite and investment capacity for various tax credits, especially renewable energy investment tax credits. As this portfolio has grown, data from our invested projects has grown. In Nelnet’s effort to actively increase its syndication volume and scale its solar investment business, the business requires an individual to assist the team with data automation, agentic frameworks, and process streamlining.

This position will be integral in assisting the team organize and extract data, develop data pipelines, improving processes, and generating business intelligence. Other activities may include research related to new technologies or service offerings, participation in strategic meetings, and interaction with other team members, investors, and solar developers.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the team in collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from a variety of sources related to solar project investments. Involves coordination and collaboration with the team’s leader to create innovative pipelines and workflows. Includes various types of technology and artificial intelligence research, team communication, and presentation.

  • Support the automation and development of scalable databases, dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that illustrate key findings to internal and external stakeholders. Work with tools including Python, Excel, Power Automate, and LLM-Oriented OCR software. Related proficiencies such as SQL and Power BI are also valuable.

  • Improve the integration of solar project data with internal Microsoft Copilot capabilities.

  • Help streamline data documentation practices and process coordination to improve team efficiency and data integrity. Collaborate with team members to maintain accurate and up-to-date data in internal systems and spreadsheets.

  • Maintain sensitive business information and ensure data security across all technologies and platforms.

  • Learn and understand the general economics and structure of solar tax equity investments.

  • Review and organize documents related to solar investment due diligence, underwriting, and project parameters.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree-seeking with an emphasis in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, or Finance.

EXPERIENCE:

Completion of data analytics, programming, and finance courses in a degree-seeking capacity.  Proficient with Microsoft Office programs Excel, Word, and Power Point. Experience in a programming language such as Python or SQL.
