Welcome to our team
The D&T department is an essential hub in our organization. This department is focused on the early-stage research of vaccine technologies. The team consists of about 40 employees, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in different vaccine technology fields like microbiology, vaccine formulation, immunology, vaccine analysis, cell biology and virology. The team works closely with other departments within the company to achieve the stated goals.

 

Your internship assignment
As an intern, you will be responsible for a project aimed on the development of a plasmid DNA-based vaccine candidate for Salmon, yes fish get also vaccinated! The student will work on design, screening and identification of antigens that should induce the best immunogenicity of the antigens using molecular biological techniques. The techniques that will be involved in this project are cell culture, DNA transfections, immunofluorescence assay, Wester blot analysis, tissue culture, and flow-cytometry analysis.

The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.

 

What is required

• A final year B.Sc or M.Sc student in the field of Life Sciences

• Preferably, you are familiar with vaccines and viruses

• You are fluent in English and/or Dutch, both written and verbal

• You are available for a period of 6-9 months for 5 days a week
