The Intern, Marketing, Retail & Athletic Operations has dual responsibilities of assisting with day-to-day marketing and retail operations and initiatives and athletic operations at the JRTC during our fast-paced,Winter/Spring season jam-packed with events. 

Responsibilities

Marketing & Retail

  • Assist with development and execution of the JRTC marketing plan.
  • Assist with posting and executing content development for advertising campaigns, including traditional media and social media.
  • Assist with retail activities including purchasing, inventory, shipping and receiving, and POS operations.
  • Work shifts as retail attendant in Gift Shop and Team Store if needed, particularly as extra hands during high customer traffic; support retail attendants and troubleshoot retail operations issues.
  • Collaborate on creating and producing content for all JRTC social media platforms.
  • Collaborate on production of email marketing campaigns.
  • Help to facilitate all media relations activities and communications, such as monitoring Google alerts, writing press releases, coordinating interviews with local media outlets, and seeking out opportunities to engage the local media to garner positive press for the JRTC.
  • Work alongside the Senior Coordinator on community relations efforts.
  • Assist with creating and completing internal graphic design needs and collaborating with MLB design services and third-party vendors. 
  • Assist with creation, production, and placement of internal signage needs.
  • Assist with keeping the JRTC website content up to date.
  • Assist with coordination of special events, including the Andre Dawson Classic and Jackie Robinson Day Celebration Game. 
  • Attend local exhibiting functions to promote JRTC events.
  • Take and catalog photos of events, construction activities, and assets.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Coordinator, Sales, Marketing & Brand Experience. 

Athletic Operations

  • Assist with day-to-day operation of the athletic department. 
  • Function as a liaison between onsite clients and JRTC staff. 
  • Function as an on-field supervisor for JRTC youth baseball tournaments and College and High School Spring Training program. 
  • Research and compile mailing/email blast lists of coaches, managers, athletic department personnel, etc., for distributing sales collateral materials; coordinate and execute direct mail marketing efforts. 
  • Assist sales staff with outreach and sales calls to amateur, high school, collegiate and professional athletic organizations. 
  • Assist communications staff with content and review of promotional/sales collateral materials as well as print and digital advertisements promoting events and facilities. 
  • Assist with scheduling and overseeing livestreams and broadcasts for JRTC and MLB events. 
  • Support both front-facing and behind-the-scenes operations of JRTC tournaments, including team coordination, scheduling, and game day operations. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Athletic Operations. 

Qualifications & Skills

  • The preferred candidate will have a two-or four-year degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited 4-year program, with at least three years completed, will also be considered if they are available for the duration of the internship. 
  • Experience working in professional or amateur baseball preferred. 
  • Experience working in retail preferred; must have demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. 
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter who will function as a team player and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite required. 
  • Proficiency creating content and monitoring trends for social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and X.
  • Basic experience using graphic design software like Canva or Adobe Suite preferred.
  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and excellent driving record. 
  • Ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds. 
  • Pull tarp when necessary.

The Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) located in Vero Beach, Florida, serves as a year-round hub for amateur development initiatives and events designed to diversify and strengthen the talent pipelines of baseball and softball. We are the permanent home to several signature youth-focused events and programs, such as the Nike RBI World Series and the Hank Aaron Invitational, which teach players how to succeed on and off the field. The historic facility, formerly known as Dodgertown, was renamed Jackie Robinson Training Complex in honor of its trailblazing namesake.
