Intern - Application Security

An Optiv Application Security intern should be passionate about technology and have a desire to learn and enhance their skillsets within the cybersecurity domain. The intern will be provided with training and mentorship to actively participate in the ongoing Application Security practice initiatives. Additionally, they will undergo formal training sessions covering the practice's service offerings and methodologies for project delivery. They will also be trained in the latest skills trending in the application security space, such as AI security, API security, and SBOM.

How you’ll make an Impact

  • Develop sufficient technical competence to actively contribute to the ongoing initiatives of the Application Security practice.
  • Take ownership of Application Security practice initiatives and consistently deliver high-quality results.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to develop effective solutions for application security challenges.
  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding and proficiency in the delivery process and methodology of Application Security service offerings.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and techniques in the field of cybersecurity, particularly in application security.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities to strengthen skills and expertise in Application Security domain.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, one-on-one, and training sessions to share knowledge and insights with colleagues and peers.

What we are hiring for

  • Must have bug bounty experience (preference for candidates with a published bug bounty profile)
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in web application penetration testing
  • Knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 (Web, API and Mobile), emerging application security threats, research, and security techniques 
  • Working knowledge at least one, typical enterprise, programming language 
  • Prior experience with bug bounty programs on platforms like Bug crowd or Hackerone is preferred
  • Willing to pursue related professional certifications such as the eWPT, OSCP or OSWE 
  • Familiarity with tenants within the common body of knowledge relating to computer science, software engineering/development, and DevOps  
  • Effective technical writing skills
