Job Summary: This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the STRL Mission Support Direct Hire Authority. Major Duties:

  • You will represent the Navy as a SME working Sense and Avoid (SAA) or Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS) efforts.
  • You will represent the Navy as a SME to develop and finalize SAA Minimal Operational Performance Standard (MOPS).
  • You will maintain Situational Awareness of a subset of USN SAA efforts throughout the lifecycles, and road-mapping SAA capabilities for the USN.
  • You will support NAWCAD and Platform Customers to strategize for appropriate financial and personnel resources.
  • You will serve as subject matter expert with Sense and Avoid, ACASxu Systems, and Due Regard Operations.
  • You will represent Avionics Technical Authority for SAA and ACAS.
  • You will lead the Certification efforts of SAA or ACAS Avionics Systems.
  • You will provide technical design, development, integration, qualification, production, and in service support of avionics systems e.g. SAA Radar, TCAS Systems, IFF, Systems, antenna systems, Ground Station Interfaces, Flight Management Systems, etc.
  • You will prepare avionics system specifications, statements of work, Contractor Data Deliverable Lists, Engineering Change Proposals, Technical Directives, and other documentation technically required to execute duties.
  • You will prepare innovative or novel engineering technical strategies and plans such as technical roadmaps, engineering staffing and development plans, and strategies to address avionics diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages.
  • You will provide technical analyses in support of trade-off studies, engineering investigations, hardware and software architectures, hardware and software compatibility, avionics software and hardware modifications, and related upgrades.
  • You will provide subject matter expertise in support of Airworthiness processes.
  • You will represent the command and our customer(s) as the technical point of contact for assigned Sense and Avoid and ACASxu Systems.
  • You will be responsible for integration and validation of avionics hardware and software systems into a laboratory environment prior to aircraft integration.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09/11 grade level or DP-03 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Working knowledge of collision Avoidance Systems and Transponders, ground stations, and Radar systems; 2) Serving as a subject matter expert responsible for leading complex development, acquisition, and integration of various platforms; and 3) Leading a team consisting of other subject matter experts.
