This position ensures the New Martinsville site is in regulatory compliance with all pressure safety, including but not limited to ASME, API, and Covestro internal process safety requirements. This position performs mechanical integrity inspections and ensures that contract inspectors are qualified and are in compliance with Covestro pressure safety standards. This position is the liaison between the production units and the pressure safety community. This role manages plant compliance with Corporate Mechanical Engineering Standards, National Fabrication and Inspection Codes, Local, State and Federal regulations with regards to pressure vessel, storage tank and piping inspections, repairs, and alterations.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for assuring compliance with codes, standards and best practices for mechanical equipment.
  • Accountable for maintaining and improving a mechanical integrity inspection program to meet PSM, RMP, Covestro Corporate Engineering Standards, Core Process requirements and government regulations for mechanical equipment.
  • Accountable for establishing and maintaining a Data Management system that ensures all Business units are informed of required inspections and updated on deficiencies and required repairs
  • Accountable for selection of appropriate test methods to ensure safe operation of mechanical equipment and minimize downtime
  • Accountable to perform mechanical integrity inspections.
  • Accountable for defining standards for repair of mechanical equipment for the New Martinsville site.
  • Accountable for the site welding program including welding procedures, welder qualification, R stamp requirements and compliance with the insurance provider and the National Board.
  • Responsible for pressure safety reviews of process equipment are completed on time.
  • Responsible to ensure new mechanical equipment specifications satisfy Covestro and governmental regulations.
  • Accountable for Site National Board "R" Stamp and maintaining the certification including owner of the Site Quality Control Manual
  • Accountable for Weld Inspections.
  • Responsible for Cathodic Protection Systems.
  • Accountable for Administration of Corporate Inspection Systems

Basic Qualifications  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years work experience in Reliability and Mechanical Integrity field

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in API 510 - Pressure Vessels, API 570 - Piping Inspections, API 653 - Above Ground Storage Tanks, WV State Certification for Back Flow Preventer Inspections and Repairs

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have knowledge of ASME Codes, NBIC, and API
  • Must have knowledge of non-destructive testing techniques and the proper application thereof
