About you and this role:

As the Infrastructure Maintenance Electrical Technologist, you provide electrical maintenance technical input and oversight for the SIM (Shops and Infrastructure Maintenance) Zone. This includes daily technical support necessary to maintain safe and reliable operation of equipment in Energy Systems and Environmental Operations. This Electrical technologist also supports maintenance and reliability improvements across all of SCO’s Diamond Infrastructure facilities. The role requires advanced skills and expertise in a range of specialized electrical discipline areas, including relays and high voltage. There is an expectation to serve as an influential leader within the maintenance team.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Electrical Team, Operations, Engineers, Planners, Coordinators, ACGKs, Turnaround Group by providing electrical expertise and technical support.

  • Assists in planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance through planner, work coordinator and operations input.

  • Repairs, maintains and improves equipment reliability. Including but not limited to transformers, breakers, synchronous motors, batteries systems, VFDs, generators, relays, grounding, infrareds, heat tracing, and high voltage switching. 

  • Diagnoses and corrects equipment problems.

  • Own and maintain procedures. Execute MOC process.

  • Coordinates spare parts optimization.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and documents failure analysis.

  • Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.

  • Serves as positive influential leader in maintenance zone.

  • Works within established Maintenance Work Processes and helps resolve issues that surface as a result of planning and scheduling work.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of electrical maintenance or related experience is required.

  • Current, valid US driver's license is required.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, is required.

  • Experience with high voltage switching is required.

  • Experience with electrical relays is required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred qualifications

  • Short-Cycle Tertiary Degree (i.e. Associate's Degree) or certificate in an electrical related field is preferred.

  • Experience using SAP is preferred.

  • Equipment Diagnostics and Troubleshooting - Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve equipment malfunctions using systematic problem-solving techniques to maintain safe and reliable operations.

  • Calibration and Alignment - Skill in setting up, calibrating, and aligning instruments and controls—including pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems—to ensure accurate performance.

  • Preventive Maintenance Execution - Competence in performing scheduled maintenance activities to prevent equipment failures and extend asset life.

  • Technical Specification and Installation - Expertise in specifying, requisitioning, and installing parts and equipment according to operational requirements and safety standards.

  • Reliability Data Analysis - Ability to collect and interpret equipment operation and history data to identify trends and support reliability improvement initiatives.

  • Maintenance Planning and Coordination - Skill in collaborating with planners, work coordinators, and operations teams to prioritize and schedule maintenance activities effectively.

  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.  Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
