Make

Infrastructure Engineering Manager

Prague, Czechia Full Time

Make is the leading visual platform for anyone to design, build, and automate anything—from tasks and workflows to apps and systems—without the need for coding skills. We are headquartered in the flourishing tech hub of Prague, Czech Republic, and our teams are spread across the USA, UK, Germany, France, Canada, India and Chile, among other locations.

Why do we love building Make (and why you might, too)?

We are developers and we take it for granted that we can solve pretty much anything by writing software. But what if someone is not a developer or needs access to one? Chances are that they will end up doing the same tedious tasks over and over, copy-pasting data from one place to another, wasting time on low-value work instead of doing something way more impactful.

With Make, we give anyone the opportunity to build powerful automations in a way that almost feels like a game. We give anyone a chance to experience the joy of building something that just works. We turn regular people into makers.

What you’ll do

  • You will lead and grow one of the Platform engineering teams focused on Infrastructure at Make.
  • Initially, you will lead 7 infrastructure engineers, and grow them via mentoring, coaching, 1-on-1s, and code reviews, if needed. The team is expected to develop as we will need to light up new capabilities further.
  • You will have an opportunity to shape the future of our tech stack and cloud architecture, identify patterns and best practices, promote them across the engineering org, and help other teams with their adoption.
  • You will work hand in hand with our Product and other Platform teams and contribute to the vision and strategy of the product area.

Our Tech stack

  • ⚙️ Back-end: Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch
  • 🖥 Front-end: Angular, TypeScript, Redux, Web Components, Canvas, Nx
  • ☁️ Infra: Amazon AWS, Docker, Kubernetes
  • 🚚 CI/CD: GitHub, CircleCI
  • 🔎 Monitoring: DataDog, TrackJS
  • 🤖 AI: Gemini, GitHub Copilot (and experimenting with more)

What we expect from you

You have a technical background in designing and operating an infrastructure capable to handle a load of hundreds of requests per second. You are passionate about cloud technologies (preferably AWS), and familiar with application containerization, and security compliance standards (ISO27k, SOC2 Type II, etc.). You will lead the charge in strategically adopting AI to automate key operational workflows and drive efficiency across the Infrastructure Platform. Together with engineering shape the deployment process and adopt the best practices to bring zero-downtime deployments. Overall, lead the Cloud-native discipline, ensure resilience and scalability of the Platform, furthermore frame a long-term vision to ensure continuous growth of the Make platform while adopting industry best practices. In particular, we’d like you to have the following:

  • Typically 5+ years of infrastructure/DevOps engineering experience and at least 2 years in a lead role.
  • Working knowledge of at least one cloud provider
  • Experience with operating a large scale of infrastructure following the Infrastructure as Code principle, and adopting automation
  • Knowledgeable with containerization platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Demonstrated experience in the Incident management culture establishment
  • Leveraging AI and advanced automation (Make) to remove tedious, repetitive engineering tasks, and ensure processes are smoother and more efficient. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of AI for proactive incident detection, intelligent alerting, and automated runbook execution to drastically reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR) and free up engineering time.
  • Review & optimize any inefficiencies in the infrastructure
  • Responsibility for the spending associated with Cloud technologies & apply various savings options
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objectives
  • Implementing security practices to be compliant with ISO27k, and SOC2 type II
  • Defining & evolving core metrics to bring a holistic view of the state of the infrastructure, i.e. cost per engineer, utilization of the instances, etc.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with managers, back-end developers, and other relevant staff members.
  • Strong command of English – verbal & written (we’re an international team)
