Industrialization Test Engineering Specialist

Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Full time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Team Members: Works with senior engineers and internal teams to support project objectives and ensure task alignment.

  • Communicate Technical Information: Shares clear and straightforward information regarding project status and technical issues with team members.

  • Maintain Engineering Documentation: Assists in updating and managing accurate records of technical processes and project documentation.

  • Coordinate team resources to ensure prompt repair of manufacturing test equipment with minimal downtime and provide technical assistance as required.

  • Coordinate/host external companies on-site for equipment calibration and maintenance activities.

  • Review/approve maintenance procedures, test procedures, schematics and technical drawings.

  • Ensure equipment calibration and preventative maintenance requirements are fulfilled accurately and on time.

  • Manage databases that track equipment, spare parts and purchasing.

  • Participate in the development and upgrade of custom test equipment.

  • Participate in the strategic planning for test equipment sustainability including recommendations for capital expenditures.

  • Lead improvement projects to optimize test equipment functionality and efficiency.

  • Liaise with Engineering, Process, QA and Test departments to identify process/organizational improvements.

  • Safety Awareness: Understands and adheres to safety standards and protocols in engineering tasks.

  • Technical Software Proficiency: Demonstrates competency in using relevant engineering software and technologies.

Other Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma Electronics Engineering Technician/Technologist or equivalent

  • Ability to read, interpret equipment drawings and schematics

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, computer, coaching and facilitation skills

  • An innovative ‘take charge' attitude coupled with solid decision making, leadership and a desire to utilize professional knowledge and share ideas

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast pace team environment, support other team members, and liaise with other departments when necessary

  • Knowledge of test and calibration equipment (eg oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzers, function generators, DMM’s etc.)

  • Good soldering skills. Fine pitch soldering an asset

  • Hands-on maintenance knowledge and experience

  • Intermediate knowledge of AC/DC circuits, including: fundamentals of electricity, basic electronic components and circuits

  • Knowledge of CAD or OrCAD basics an asset

  • Good Excel, Word and E-Mail skills
