JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for extracting, processing and analyzing current and historical data to provide labor estimates in support of proposal efforts for transformational manufacturing projects on a industry 4.0 high flow line.  This individual will utilize knowledge of manufacturing process including welding, fabrication, coatings, and assembly to provide accurate and reasonable estimates. They will conduct business with a high level of integrity and an understanding of the boundaries of Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Research and formulate plans to accomplish major projects, including manpower estimates, cost estimates and work measuring devices such as milestones or critical path charts.
  • Compare legacy product design to new product design to identify differences in components and labor content including reviewing bill of material (BOM) for accuracy in support of proposal work.
  • Estimate labor hours using existing reports provided by Finance Team.
  • Document assumptions, methodology/rationale, and labor estimate using basis of estimate (BOE) document.
  • Collaborate with design teams to complete BOM comparison and review contractual requirements to ensure all costs are captured.
  • Develop and write proposals for production processes.
  • Author manufacturing plans to capture proposed production methods for future programs.
  • Support cost estimate activities for both new product lines and contract extensions; including research to make recommendations on make vs buy of manufactured components.
  • Identify process improvements in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity utilizing lean and six sigma principles and methodologies.
  • Establish manpower requirements, line and sub-assembly balancing data, and expectancy time performance.
  • Participate in product launch activities, as needed.
  • Present estimates for peer, management, and/or customer review.
  • Develop and mentor assigned industrial engineers and technicians.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or in a related field.
  • 6 months to 1 year or more experience in costing, estimating, industrial engineering and/or in a related area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience working within the heavy equipment manufacturing industry or automobile industry.
  • Experience in automotive assembly operations with application of Lean and/or Six Sigma tools.
  • Prior experience with JD Edwards or related AS400 system.
  • Experience with Catia, Pro Planner, and Connected Tools.
  • Prior experience with Showcase or an AS400 data query extraction program and Propricer or a related proposal management software.
  • Experience with the application of learning and break in production curves using CURV1, BREAK, or similar software programs.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; including a strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Prior experience with managing data and producing charts in Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Project management skills working with multiple priorities and the ability to manage large quantities of data.
  • Analytical, critical thinking, attention to detail, communication and patterning skills to evaluate data and provide recommendations.

Pay Range:

$63,500.00 - $101,700.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
