Immigration Specialist – Americas

Job Summary:

The Immigration Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting SailPoint's immigration programs and processes. This role requires a deep understanding of immigration laws and regulations for the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. The Immigration Specialist will work closely with employees, leaders, HR, and outside counsel to ensure compliance and provide a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer SailPoint's immigration programs, including but not limited to H-1B, TN, L-1, and PERM.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding immigration-related inquiries.

  • Partner with outside immigration counsel to prepare and file visa petitions and applications.

  • Track and maintain accurate immigration status, expiration dates, and compliance requirements within the HRIS system (Workday).

  • Monitor changes in immigration laws and regulations and advise HR and management on potential impact.

  • Ensure compliance with all immigration-related requirements, including public access files and I-9 compliance.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of immigration policies and procedures.

  • Create and improve SOPs, FAQs, and resources to empower stakeholders and enhance the immigration experience.

  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to support the immigration needs of new hires.

  • Manage the PERM recruitment process, including job postings and resume screening.

  • Conduct monthly work authorization audits in Workday to monitor visa expiration dates and proactively manage timelines for extensions and renewals.

  • Initiate new and extension cases with outside immigration counsel.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in immigration program management, preferably within the tech industry.

  • Proficient knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and procedures.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with various visa types, including H-1B, TN, L-1, and PERM.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday) is a plus.

     

Within 30 days: You will gain an understanding of our tech stack including Workday, ServiceNow, Slack and company Intranet. You will also start to build relationships within the various teams across HR. You’ll soak up knowledge through our intranet, employee handbook, and corporate policies.  You will also gain an understanding of our external immigration counsel, including key contacts and their immigration case portal.

Within 90 days: You will be fluent in our systems and will have built strong relationships with the teams mentioned above. You will be comfortable fielding various immigration inquires and will become more confident in what steps are needed to best manage through multiple cases.

Within 6 months: You will have all the knowledge necessary to independently manage a larger volume of immigration related items for the AMS region. You will have a solid understanding of all SailPoint best practices and will be well on your way to becoming an SME.

Within 1 year: You will be fully comfortable with managing all immigration cases and being the liaison between SailPoint and our external immigration counsel.  You will have improved our current immigration practices and ensured full compliance with all work authorization requirements. 

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):

$71,400 - $102,000 - $132,600

Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
