ROLE OVERVIEW

Benchling is looking for an experienced HR Manager who will be the main HR point of contact for our EMEA teams. The HR Manager will directly handle, advise and coach on employee relations, global mobility (i.e. international transfers and assignments), Security and Financial audits (i.e. SOC2, SOX) and performance management as well as work with the broader People, Finance, Tax, Workplace and Legal teams to strategically develop and drive initiatives and overall process improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage International HR Operations & Compliance: Serve as the primary HR liaison for managing EMEA entities and Employers-of-Record (EORs) in partnership with Finance, Tax, and Legal
  • Create Global Mobility policies to guide employees as Benchling scales internationally
  • Work with HR Business Partners and Departmental Leaders to build, refine and scale HR programs (i.e. performance management, reorganizations, employee surveys)
  • Work with HR Business Partners to standardize Benchling's performance management process and support managers directly in specific cases and investigations in partnership with the Legal team
  • Help scale support for first line managers in day to day employee relations operations (ie managing complex and country-specific Leave of Absence/time off policies, accommodations, conflict resolution, etc)
  • Organize HR’s procedures in order to remain compliant with Security (i.e. SOC2, ISO) and Financial Audits (SOX)
  • Manage benefits and pension offerings for Benchling’s European entities
  • Partner with the Workplace team for EMEA events and community building activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive HR experience, with a significant focus on the EMEA region
  • Experience handling employee relations cases
  • Familiarity with employment laws and practices in European countries, preferably some combination of Switzerland, United Kingdom, Denmark, France and/or Germany
  • Familiarity with working with international Employers of Record (EORs) and partnering with Finance and Legal for managing and setting up new international entities
  • Experience building and scaling HR programs (i.e. performance management)
  • Familiarity with HR responsibilities for Security and Financial Audits
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Prior experience working in a fast-growth environment is preferred 
  • Previously have owned HR Audit responsibilities end-to-end is preferred
  • Experience with international HR setup and ongoing scaling is preferred

HOW WE WORK

We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes in-office collaboration. Employees are expected to be on-site 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday).
