JOB PURPOSE

As the Human Resources Manager at PHINIA Izmir, Turkey, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of our local operations. You’ll lead the implementation of HR strategies that align with both PHINIA’s global vision and local business and legal requirements, fostering a culture of teamwork, empowerment, and continuous development.

This key leadership role calls for a balance of strategic insight, compliance expertise, and people leadership. The role requires strong experience in managing HR for large-scale operations (500+ employees), a deep knowledge of trade union processes, and an extensive understanding of Turkish labour legislation, incentives, and manufacturing environments.
Preferred candidates will have solid experience working in manufacturing or automotive environments, with a clear understanding of plant operations and industrial workforce dynamics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

Lead the HR function for the plant, overseeing HR budget management, target-setting, and performance tracking.

Partner with plant and regional leadership to align HR initiatives with business strategy and operational goals.

Provide strategic HR leadership gained from managing complex workforce structures in large-scale operations (500+ employees).

Continuous Improvement

Recommend and implement innovative HR practices, systems, and policies that improve efficiency and employee experience.

Promote digitalisation and process improvement across HR operations.

Use insights from legislative incentives and government-supported programs to improve HR processes and cost efficiencies.

Employee Relations

Act as a trusted advisor for employees and leaders, handling employee relations with professionalism, fairness, and confidentiality.

Manage all union-related processes with confidence, maintaining strong relationships with trade unions, supporting negotiations, and ensuring compliance with collective labour agreements.

Ensure compliance with Turkish Labour Law, Social Security regulations, and Occupational Health & Safety Law.

Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures in accordance with company policy and local legal standards.

Support a healthy, safe, and compliant work environment by collaborating closely with HSE team and understanding HSE requirements.

Talent Acquisition

Lead recruitment and selection efforts, ensuring fair and inclusive practices.

Partner with global teams and local agencies to attract, select, and onboard the best talent.

Support employer branding activities in Turkey to strengthen PHINIA’s reputation as an employer of choice.

Compliance Champion

Ensure full compliance with Turkish employment legislation, social security requirements, and internal audit standards.

Maintain accurate employee documentation and reporting as required by local authorities.

Act as the point of contact for labour inspectors or external auditors when necessary.

Leverage expertise in employment legislation, government incentives, and regulatory processes to ensure the plant operates fully within legal boundaries.

Compensation and Benefits

Support and administer competitive and compliant compensation and benefits programs, in alignment with Turkish market benchmarks and global guidelines.

Manage payroll input processes in collaboration with Finance and external service providers.

Apply strong knowledge of incentive schemes, legal benefits, and sector-based practices.

Training and Development

Identify local training needs and coordinate with global HR to deliver programs that enhance employee capability and leadership strength.

Ensure training activities meet local compliance requirements (e.g., health & safety, ethics).

Support HSE-related development and ensure mandatory HSE trainings are completed and tracked.

Talent Management

Drive talent and performance management processes, supporting succession planning and leadership development.

Identify and develop high-potential employees to ensure organizational continuity.

Community and Culture Ambassador

Represent PHINIA in local community and CSR activities, demonstrating our commitment to integrity, inclusion, and social responsibility.

Support initiatives that promote employee engagement, recognition, and belonging across the plant.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field — a strong educational foundation is essential.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related discipline (preferred).
  • Professional HR certifications (e.g., PHRi, SPHRi, CIPD, or local equivalents such as İKDER or PERYÖN certifications) are considered a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Experience working in a multinational or manufacturing environment in Turkey is highly desirable.
  • Proven understanding of Turkish labor law (4857), Social Security Law (5510), and Occupational Health & Safety Law (6331) is essential.
