Position Overview

VCA is seeking a highly skilled Hospital Manager to lead operations at both VCA Yucca Valley Animal Hospital and VCA 29 Palms Animal Hospital. This position offers the rewarding opportunity to direct a multi-site team committed to delivering the highest standards of veterinary care and client service.

The Hospital Manager collaborates with regional leadership and the Medical Director to ensure efficient, profitable business operations and exceptional patient outcomes. The manager is responsible for human resources management, financial oversight, team development, and upholding hospital policies and compliance.​

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and develop veterinary, technical, and administrative staff to achieve quality patient care and excellent client service.​
  • Formulate objectives and policies to drive operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance review, disciplinary action, and termination of staff, in partnership with Regional Management.
  • Review monthly P&L reports and collaborate with the Medical Director to optimize revenue and control expenses.
  • Prepare and submit annual operating budgets, participate in financial forecasting, and evaluate capital expenditures.
  • Model an “owner” mentality to foster team engagement and operational excellence.
  • Support patient care by minimizing stress and discomfort; recommend referrals for improved prognosis as needed.
  • Maintain compliant patient and client records, ensuring all logs are current per established protocols.
  • Supervise client medical complaint administration and case review.
  • Manage two hospital locations with shared staff, doctors, and client base within the community.​

Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated management experience with large teams (25+ direct reports) across multiple locations.​
  • Preferred background in veterinary hospital or healthcare management.
  • Minimum of 5 years in business financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning.​
  • Proven ability in sales and marketing concepts to enhance client retention.
  • Strong team leadership with skills in mentoring, engagement, and developing high accountability workplaces.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field strongly preferred; CVPM or MHA certification is a plus.​
  • Computer proficiency in office software and hospital management applications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management abilities.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $69,000–$80,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience).
