Position Summary
The Hong Kong & Macau General Manager leads the local organization through its transformation to create a new Pfizer—one that is science-based, innovative, and patient-focused. This role is responsible for leading, managing, and developing the business in Hong Kong and Macau to achieve and outperform strategic goals and financial objectives. The General Manager represents Pfizer before the healthcare environment and works proactively to influence both internal and external environments in accordance with Pfizer’s core values and global strategies.

Hong Kong and Macau sit in a unique policy and business environment—closely aligned with global market practices, while at the same time influenced by China’s distinctive policy and business dynamics. As the landscape becomes increasingly competitive, with policy uncertainties, the potential for closer coordination with Mainland China, and upcoming LOEs for key products, breakthrough policy shaping and strategic influence are required to ensure that Hong Kong becomes a strong growth driver for China. The complexity and scope of this position demand a leader equipped with the capability to manage this multifaceted environment, balance priorities, adapt to ever-changing conditions, and act independently, using sound business judgment and decision-making skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Portfolio Management:
    Accountable for the full lifecycle of the Hong Kong & Macau portfolio, including pipeline planning (organic and inorganic), new product launches, and commercialization. Drive strategic portfolio planning and collaborate with internal stakeholders to accelerate pipeline and explore innovative pathways for growth.
  • Market Development & Leadership:
    Identify and develop new therapeutic areas, drive market development, and establish Pfizer as a leader in priority segments. Build the business as a future growth engine for Pfizer China, addressing challenges in accessibility and affordability.
  • Cross-Functional & Matrix Leadership:
    Lead and align cross-functional and matrix teams to ensure cohesive strategy execution and accountability. Cooperate with China Leadership team, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and other enabling functions to maximize growth potential.
  • Commercial Excellence & Innovation:
    Set long-term vision and develop innovative go-to-market strategies including but not limited to digital adoption. Ensure launch readiness for new products and indications through robust development of launch strategy and market preparedness. Drive execution of campaigns, tactics, and successful launch of key brands.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Proactively engage and influence internal and external stakeholders—including government officials, industry associations, KOLs, customers, and media—to advocate for business priorities and build strategic partnerships.
  • P&L Accountability & Financial Management:
    Optimize revenue growth, manage expenses and investments, and implement course-correcting actions to achieve financial objectives. Ensure optimal allocation of resources for attainment of business goals and financial control
  • Leadership & People Management:
    Lead and coach high-performing teams, develop talent, and instill a proactive compliance and risk management. Energize and inspire colleagues at all levels to generate commitment to the business and ensure the creation of a climate and values which will support short- and long-term business success.
  • Ensures high standards of compliance to norms, policies, and procedures and instills a proactive compliance risk management culture throughout his/her direct team members and the cross functional organization. Ensure all activities comply with company policies, SOPs, and global guidelines (including MAPP, FCPA).

Qualifications (Training, Education & Prior Experience)

Education

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree strongly preferred.

  • Extensive pharmaceutical and broader healthcare business knowledge in both government and self-pay markets or similar markets in the region preferred.
  • 15+ years of diverse commercial experience, including management and people manager experience.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, knowledge of Cantonese & Mandarin is preferred
  • P&L management experience and financial acumen
  • Track record of leading high-performing teams and ability to turnaround the business situation while maintaining highest integrity.
  • Proven ability to influence across a range of diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking, ability to anticipate the fast-changing healthcare environment, and innovative mindset to embrace changes and identify innovative solutions.
  • Solid expertise in therapeutic areas and deep relationships with KOLs.
  • Ability to engage, influence, and convince global colleagues and other key stakeholders.
  • Agility to work in a matrix organization.
  • Good understanding of market access and pipeline development for key products.
