Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position

Are you eager to help create meaningful change for those experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County?

 

As the Homeless Initiatives Program Aide you'd be involved in two primary roles: supports provision services for clients experiencing homeless who are engaging with county programs and supporting administrative and data reporting functions of the Hand in Hand program in order to best to serve clients experiencing homeless. This position will work directly with clients and will have opportunities to work with a wide array of stakeholders to build a successful program.

About the Senior Services and Homelessness Division

The Senior Services and Homelessness Division works to provide housing stability for our most vulnerable residents.  We work with older residents and individuals with disabilities to help them remain safely in their existing home setting. The division also prevents eviction for low-income families and individuals by providing crisis services. Additionally, we support those experiencing homelessness through street outreach and shelter services.  Our mission is accomplished by working in close partnership with many service providers to across the County to ensure people can stay housed and that homelessness is rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

We Require

  • Two years of experience providing direct services to individuals or families experiencing homelessness

  • Associate’s degree in Psychology, Social Services, or a related field 

  • A combination of post-secondary education and job-related experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Other Requirements

  • Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Level 1 Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card

Job Contributions

  • Assist program coordinator in assessment of, and regional response to encampments, including integration of regional support services for clients transitioning out of unsheltered homelessness

  • Assist program coordinator in the preparation and facilitation of regional collaborative efforts, such as encampment engagement events, service connections for clients, and technical assistance for service providers

  • As needed, respond to the needs of clients accessing care through Maricopa County Human Services Department who may benefit from Hand in Hand or other available resources in SSCRD

  • Scribe relevant notes, objectives and resources from ongoing meetings with internal and external Hand in Hand collaborators, subrecipients and contractors; share with affiliated providers afterward for sustained engagement in regional outreach services

  • Process referrals for outreach services, including the administration and tracking of emergency financial assistance and associated documentation

  • Administer necessary changes to templates, forms, presentations and online platforms used to conduct Hand in Hand services, training materials and service improvement

  • Inform the development of goals, objectives, and measures for the County’s homelessness initiatives based on provider feedback and experience in the position

  • Support the coordination of the annual Point in Time Count for the County

  • Regularly review client-level data, public/partner referrals and databases for clerical errors, supporting the maintenance of tracking systems and software, including HMIS, ESRI, Power Automate, Survey123 and Dynamics

  • As needed, attend regional homelessness subcommittees, groups, and organizations in Maricopa County as designated by the Homeless Program Manager

Working Conditions

  • Position based in an office environment but will require travel to and from various locations within the County, throughout the scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County or private vehicles used on County business.
