Primary Function:

The primary function of the Health Information Management (HIM) Analyst is to support the design, build, configuration, testing, implementation, and optimization of the HIM module within the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. This involves analyzing current HIM workflows, developing and implementing new processes, providing training and support to end-users, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements. The HIM Analyst acts as a key liaison between the HIM department and the Epic implementation team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to achieve efficient and compliant HIM operations within the healthcare organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Epic implementation team to configure and optimize the HIM module within the Epic EHR system.
  • Analyze current HIM workflows and identify opportunities for improvement and alignment with Epic capabilities.
  • Develop and document new HIM workflows, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and compliant operations.
  • Participate in system design, build, and testing activities to ensure accurate configuration of the HIM module.
  • Conduct data migration and conversion activities, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Provide training and support to end-users, including HIM staff, clinicians, and administrative personnel.
  • Develop training materials, user guides, and documentation to support the implementation and ongoing use of the Epic’s HIM modules.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to HIM processes within the Epic system, providing timely resolution and support.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and other relevant standards.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between the HIM department and the Epic implementation team to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Assist in the development of reports and dashboards to monitor HIM metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and standards that impact HIM processes and Epic system functionality.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, or a related field or higher preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience working with Epic systems or similar EHR platform required.
  • High School diploma with 5 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of HIM processes.
  • Epic HIM Certification preferred for external candidates.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

  • Familiarity with processes that fall under HIM. For example: Chart
  • Correction, Release of Information, Deficiency Tracking, and Coding.
  • Understanding of scanning and indexing workflows and confidentiality and privacy guidelines.
  • Familiarity with HL7 Interfaces such as ADT, ORM, and ORU..
  • Excellent problem-solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate complex tasks simultaneously across multiple projects..
  • Provide training and support to end users.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and workflows.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans.
  • Ability to analyze current HIM related workflows, identify areas for improvement, and recommend optimization strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Prior software implementation experience preferred, including experience supporting 3rd party vendor integrations in the Health Information Management, Coding and CDI space.
  • Experience supporting EDCO Solarity, Dolbey Fusion, RightFax and Verisma VRM software platforms is preferred.

Annual Compensation Range $85,862.40 - $137,384.00

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
