As a global team at the heart of Roche, we are a community of business-minded technologists committed to help shape tomorrow’s digital future of healthcare. Our mission is to power Roche through cutting-edge digital technologies, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence, data, and scalable tech innovations. Driven by purpose and passion, we’re building a future where digital is a core strength across all of Roche, enabling smarter ways of working, unlocking human potential, and driving breakthroughs that truly matter for millions of patients around the world.

Summary

As the Head of Sourcing for RDT’s Digital Technologies and Services, you will be the transformative leader tasked with addressing one of RDT's most significant strategic challenges: our external ecosystem. We are seeking a transformative leader to build and lead our new, unified strategic sourcing capability, which will fundamentally elevate the effectiveness and efficiency of how we engage with external partners.

Your core mission will be to partner with Enterprise Architecture and Workforce Development to redefine our sourcing strategies, leveraging your deep experience and network of key tech and IT service providers to deliver value and substantial cost reductions. This is a highly visible role requiring exceptional leadership to drive cultural change across RDT, engage directly with senior leadership, and champion a new, strategic approach to vendor partnership and governance.

Role

As a senior 'leader of leaders,' you will hire, coach, and direct two People Leaders across the pillars of Sourcing Management, Vendor Governance, and External Ecosystem Partnership, establishing a function that turns vendor management into a core competitive advantage for Roche.

Key Accountabilities

You will provide the vision, strategy, and leadership for the RDT Vendor Management Office by directing your team of People Leaders across four key pillars:

Strategic Sourcing Management:

  • Lead the Sourcing Management function, deploying teams of sourcing experts to key business areas (Pharma Medicines, R&D, Diagnostics & Group Functions, Enterprise).

  • Drive the implementation of a unified sourcing strategy, overseeing critical vendor selection, RFP evaluations, and high-value contract and rate negotiations.

  • Ensure a clear demarcation from day-to-day operational activities, allowing your team to focus exclusively on strategic sourcing.

Vendor Governance & Compliance:

  • Direct the Vendor Governance team to define, own, and implement a consistent governance framework and external workforce management policies across all RDT functions.

  • Establish clear accountability for vendor compliance, ensuring all third-party engagements adhere to Roche's rigorous quality, legal, and regulatory standards.

External Ecosystem Partnership:

  • Oversee the External Ecosystem Partnership team, which serves as the primary strategic interface for Roche’s most critical technology vendors.

  • Empower leaders to execute the governance framework, manage senior-level relationships, monitor vendor performance at an RDT-wide level, and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.

Key Leadership Competencies and Skills

  • Leadership of Leaders: Proven experience hiring, coaching, and developing other senior leaders and their respective teams within a large-scale, global organization.

  • Change Management & Cultural Influence: Demonstrated ability to drive significant organizational and cultural change in a complex, mature environment. Adept at building consensus and leading transformation initiatives with senior leadership.

  • Industry Network & Market Intelligence: Possesses a strong, established network and deep knowledge of the key tech and IT service provider landscape, using this insight to inform and innovate sourcing strategies.

  • Commercial & Financial Acumen: Exceptional negotiation skills and proven success in managing large-scale budgets, delivering on aggressive cost-saving targets, and structuring complex, high-value commercial agreements.

  • Organizational Design & Transformation: Demonstrated ability to build a new strategic function from the ground up, defining a clear vision, operating model, and governance structures.

  • Executive Influence & Stakeholder Management: Ability to operate at a senior level, building strong relationships and influencing key stakeholders across technology, finance, legal, and business divisions to drive alignment and adoption of new processes.
