The Head of Market Risk is a key Line 2 role within our wider risk management domain where you will be responsible for the effective identification, measurement and monitoring of Market Risk for the Bank including interest rate risk, funding and liquidity risk. You will utilise your specialist knowledge and quantitative skills in the development and refinement of Market Risk policies and analytics, with the aim of defining and maintaining a superior Market Risk Management framework (including risk appetite) that meets the requirements of APRA and, where relevant, the ECB.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain the interest rate and liquidity and funding risk framework, covering overall approach, product approval SME support, risk identification in line with IBALs risk appetite statement
  • Maintain all related Market Risk policies, procedures and standards
  • Propose, monitor and maintain models and processes for measuring non-traded interest rate and liquidity ( experience with product portfolios replication/FTP transfer )
  • Stress testing design, plan, execution, analysis and reporting . Measure the vulnerability to loss under stressful market conditions, including breakdown of key assumptions
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting and information to the Board and various stakeholder groups to a Senior level
  • Independently review, challenge but also support the first line with the measurement, monitoring, reporting and management of interest rate, liquidity and funding risk as well as provide independent analysis
  • Build and lead a high performing team


What we’re looking for

  • Minimum of 7-10+ years relevant market risk experience within Banking and Financial services
  • Tertiary qualification in Finance/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Actuarial Sciences/ Other degree with strong mathematical component
  • Solid understanding of financial markets and instruments with hands-on knowledge of market risk management techniques and processes
  • Specific knowledge and experience of interest rate risk, funding and liquidity risk. Modelling of replicating portfolios, transfer pricing and stress testing methodologies
  • A working knowledge of APRA prudential standards relevant to market risk
  • Proven ability to engage and motivate individuals and team in a challenging, complex and dynamic environment
  • Skill in conceptualising and developing innovative solutions to business challenges, improving processes/systems
