Job Purpose

Shape, lead and develop the UK’s HR Business Partnering and Advisory teams (approximately 12 heads), working in partnership with business leadership teams and collaborating with the COEs, to support the  achievement of  key business objectives through the strategic use of people resources.

As a senior leader with a HR specialism, contributes to the   defining and development of HR and Business strategies  and objectives .  Setting our people up for success, creating an outstanding employee experience, and developing enablers that support an aglile and response organisation delivering exceptional performance.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Technical Expert:

  • Work with the HR leadership team across Cabot and Encore to develop and implement integrated innovative HR strategies, policies, processes, practices, and tools which support the future requirements of the Bus and wider Cabot Group in the following areas:
    • Reward
    • Employee relations
    • Employee Experience
    • Organisation Development, capability and design
    • Talent Management & Succession Planning
    • Change Management
  • Implement and develop talent management and people development processes that build organisational and individual capability
  • Develop people oriented polices and practices  are fit for purpose, aligned with  our business culture.  To enhance and enable the business strategy.
  • Ensure the provision of practical people management advice and guidance whilst building empowerment and  capability across our management and leadership teams.
  • Budget ownership where relevant.

Business Partner:

  • Contribute to the development of  the key business objectives, drivers, and performance issues through working in partnership with the business.
  • Support the development of the business units strategic agenda and lead and enable the HR strategy in collaboration with the business leadership team
  • Establish credible relationship to enhance the leadership team personal performance through coaching, feedback and challenge
  • Ensure the organisation has the most effective design and the right capability to execute the strategy at optimal cost
  • Leveraging technology to enable, effective measurement and analysis of HR solutions services and metrics in contributing to the business objectives,  enabling informed and considered business decisions

Inspirational Leader

  • Develop and coach the HRBPs and Advisors to create a high performing, empowered and fully aligned HR team with the capability to deliver effectively across the full breadth of the Business Partner and Advisory remit
  • Building attitude, capability and bench-strength across the HR BP team, ensure the delivery of the following through the Partnering and Advisory Teams:
    • Coaching leaders in the implementation of HR initiatives, processes and tools and facilitate timely delivery.
    • Evaluate the initiatives/activities/solutions ensuring the business objectives are achieved.
    • Creating methodologies and tools to evaluate, design and align change programmes
    • Develop Consultancy skills to effectively, influence, coach and guide people leaders across the business
    • Connect and collaborate with the COE and People Managers to be the voice of the business in HR and the voice of HR in the business .
    • Champion communication and engagement approaches challenging and questioning the people leaders to improve accoutability
  • Support the business units to build organisational, team and individual capability on a day to day basisIn collaboration with the relevant business unit leader drive talent management (e.g. capability/talent mapping, succession planning, PDP creation, talent move recommendations, etc)
  • Collaborate with key SMEs to drive the employer brand to ensure Cabot and it’s associated brands can attract and retain talent
  • Lead/take part in, cross Cabot/Encore project teams to deliver wider strategic initiatives as the opportunities arise

Person specification:

Formal Education & Certification

  • Generalist HR knowledge with solid experience working within an HR Business Partner capacity at a senior level
  • CIPD qualified desirable
  • Evidence of commitment to continual professional development

Knowledge & Experience

  • Breadth of business knowledge together with an understanding of how HR can contribute to its success
  • A proven track record of managing programmes/project management
  • Experience of acting as a change agent, working proactively to make organisational change happen
  • Knowledge and experience of the full spectrum of HR interventions and a demonstrable track record of successfully delivering business results
  • Experience of coaching and advising at a senior level underpinned by a collaborative style of working
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and developing high performing HR teams
  • Strong customer focus and proven ability of building better productive relationship at all levels of the organisation
  • Technical and professional HR knowledge including employment legislation
