The Team:

The S&P Enterprise Architecture office is a newly established capability that provides technology, system and data alignment, control, and insight across all divisions and corporate functions of S&P Global.

The office is orientated around five strategic principles:

  • A Single View of Enterprise Architecture - Develop and maintain a consolidated view of systems, data, and technology assets to support investment and integration decisions.
  • Evolve Common Governance & Standards - Evolve and embed enterprise-level governance and standards building on existing TDOC and ARB processes.
  • Enable Enterprise-Scale Data, AI, & Agentic Capabilities - Coordinate architecture for AI and agentic solutions to ensure responsible adoption and shared value across business units.
  • Develop Architecture Capability and Community - Build an empowered network of architects across divisions and functions with shared ways of working, tools, and frameworks.
  • Deliver Measurable Business Alignment & Value - Demonstrate clear outcomes such as reduced duplication, improved time-to-market, and optimized investment.

The office is newly formed as part of the company’s strategy to more tightly align technology and data assets to accelerate AI readiness of the entire technology estate. The office has oversight of all aspects of technology: from IT and business systems through to product platforms.

The Impact:

Leading a solid line team of ~10 and a dotted line of ~150 architects, you will be part of the S&P technology leadership team, driving alignment between technical solutions and business needs, fostering a culture of innovation, and overseeing the seamless integration of governance processes to support scalable and unified technology, data and product outcomes throughout S&P Global.

Responsibilities and Impact:

Strategy & Vision

  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture vision, roadmap and guiding principles that support S&Ps corporate strategy, global operations, and digital business model.
  • Translate business strategy (e.g., content services growth, cloud delivery, subscription models, generative AI, product/platform innovation) into architecture capabilities and choices.
  • Monitor emerging technology and industry trends (e.g., AI/ML, cloud native, media delivery, data monetization, rights/licensing systems) and assess their potential for S&P.

Architectural Domains & Roadmap

  • Own the architecture across major domains: business, application, data, and infrastructure/technology (cloud, edge, streaming, SaaS/PaaS).
  • Lead and oversee the "as is" assessment, target "to be" architecture, and transition roadmap for the enterprise.
  • Align acquisition/integration strategy (M&A) with architectural frameworks and ensure smooth architectural integration of new businesses, participating in due diligence as necessary.

Governance & Standards

  • Establish and lead an Architecture Review Board (ARB) and other governance bodies to review major programs/projects, approve architecture decisions, ensure compliance with architecture standards and policies.
  • Define and enforce architectural principles, reference architectures, reusable components and patterns (e.g., API strategy, data platforms, cloud services).
  • Work with legal/compliance, security, privacy (important for media/information companies) to ensure architecture supports regulatory obligations and risk management.

Transformation and Innovation

  • Enable major transformation initiatives through clear architectural roadmaps and strategy (e.g., cloud migration, AI readiness, business system consolidation, data analytics platform build out).
  • Enable adoption of new technologies (e.g., generative AI for information services) and model their integration into S&Ps architecture.
  • Lead architecture for product/platform enablement (e.g., digital subscription platforms, SaaS offerings, global delivery of information assets) and ensure architecture supports scalability, performance, reliability, global compliance.

Stakeholder & Leadership Engagement

  • Partner with C suite, division heads, product and technology leaders to ensure architecture supports business priorities.
  • Translate architectural concepts into business facing language; influence decision making, investment prioritization, and technology governance.
  • Lead the EA team: hire, mentor, develop domain architects (data, application, infrastructure), and build the architecture community of practice across S&P.

Operational Excellence & Value Realization

  • Define key metrics to monitor architecture effectiveness (e.g., reduction of technical debt, % of reused components, time to market for new offerings, cost savings from rationalisation).
  • Highlight and sponsor application/portfolio rationalisation to reduce legacy systems, consolidate platforms, remove redundancy, increase reuse.
  • Ensure architecture supports high levels of availability, resilience, performance, especially for information delivery systems.

Required Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Significant leadership experience (15+ years preferred) in enterprise architecture, with at least 5–10 years in a senior EA leadership role in a large global organization (information/media/technology emphasis strongly preferred).
  • Deep experience in data architecture/analytics, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), streaming/content delivery, microservices, APIled architecture.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale transformations (cloud migration, platform consolidation, M&A integration).
  • Superior people leadership skills. Able to coach, mentor, and develop talent with a focus on continual learning.  
  • Strategic partnership lens, with deep understanding of entire data lifecycle to enable comprehensive support of divisional needs
  • Strong business acumen: able to engage with business leaders and translate business strategy into architecture and tech investment decisions.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, networking and influencing skills at Clevel and globally distributed teams.
  • Experience with architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.) and governance practices.
  • Experience in media/information services or related domain highly desirable (e.g., content delivery, subscription models, rights/licensing systems, realtime analytics, digital platforms).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related discipline; Master’s or MBA is a plus. Relevant architecture certifications desirable.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $225,000- $400,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.  This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
