As our EHS Manager, you will play a key role in driving safety and sustainability at Arxada’s production site in Visp. You will be at the heart of our commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence — ensuring compliance with legal standards while continuously improving our EHS performance. Acting as a trusted partner for authorities, customers, and colleagues, you’ll help shape our site’s EHS strategy and foster a strong, forward-looking safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive and promote a strong safety culture at the Visp site, ensuring that “Safety is not a project, but a culture.”
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and corporate EHS requirements, and continuously improve related processes and systems.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the site’s EHS management system, including objectives, KPIs, and standards, while maintaining a balance between strategic goals and quick wins.
  • Act as the primary contact for authorities, insurers, and customers on all EHS matters, representing Arxada externally and internally in relevant committees and working groups.
  • Lead and develop the EHS team, actively contributing to the Site Leadership Team and supporting site management in all EHS-related topics.
  • Coordinate EHS aspects in large-scale projects and drive harmonization of processes such as reporting, HAZOP, and root cause analysis.
  • Own the site’s EHS standards and roadmap, contributing to Arxada’s long-term sustainability and safety objectives.
  • Hands-on-mentality for the future incumbent to execute programs in the field together with the team.

Key Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the chemical industry, ideally in production, laboratory, or EHS functions.
  • Requires the future incumbent to be located on site in Visp / Switzerland.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Strong strategic mindset with the courage to set ambitious goals, think broadly, and take well-calculated risks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders and foster open, two-way communication.
  • Fluent in German and English (both required); French is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining focus on long-term objectives.
  • Demonstrates perseverance, passion, and resilience — turning challenges into opportunities for improvement.
