Global Public Affairs (PA) is an essential partner in the successful execution of the company’s strategy. The Global PA team for Sanofi Specialty Care is organized by Therapeutic Areas (TA) and provides support to each TA across key geographies.

 

The Head, Dermatology and Immunology Policy (referred to as “Head” hereafter) serves as a PA expert to the Global Alliance Immunology Franchise and Global Sanofi Immunology Franchise. S/he functions as a critical partner to the Dermatology Therapeutic Area Leads across both franchises, leading the disease-level market-shaping strategy and policy prioritization efforts for the company in conjunction with key markets and corporate stakeholders. S/he is considered the franchise lead on global disease-related external engagement, coalition-building and thought leadership. S/he will also oversee and fulfill key asset and indication market-shaping needs, with the support of the GPA Lead, Dermatology.

 

In addition to dermatology-focused leadership, the Head will also serve as the GPA Immunology team’s key liaison with Corporate Public Affairs and Corporate Policy to advance policy priorities and address system-level market shaping issues with a substantial impact on the success of the company’s global Immunology franchises.

 

Global public affairs strategies to meet key business objectives. He/She collaborates with the Local PA teams to ensure relevance of global strategy, alignment on resource prioritization, and consistency in execution.

Main Responsibilities:

The Head, Dermatology and Immunology Policy, is responsible for developing and executing a global public affairs strategy to deliver on the critical market-shaping objectives for the global Immunology franchises, focused on addressing dermatology as well as cross-cutting, “above disease state” policy, market-shaping and patient access issues.

 

  • Lead development and execution of Global PA strategy for dermatology in collaboration with alliance partners, key global functions and local affiliates, and with a focus on advancing dermatology-related policy prioritization, supporting high-priority dermatology-related business objectives and preparing the ecosystem for significant launches in the dermatology space.

  • Build expertise and knowledge of immunology and associated dermatological disease states within the global PA community.

  • Continually share insights on patient community needs and expectations with the internal team and be seen as a trusted and knowledgeable resource on patient-facing issues in the dermatology space.

  • Reinforce and demonstrate through action Sanofi’s long-standing position as a leader in innovation and patient commitment in dermatology and immunology more broadly.

  • Understand and identify important trends likely to impact business strategy – monitor and analyze potential threats, opportunities from external developments and communicate them effectively to the Franchise leadership as well as provide counsel on how to address.

  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional partners (commercial, market access, medical, regulatory, R&D, commercial) to engage in relevant policy, guidelines, and decision-making efforts related to optimizing patient care delivery and ensuring appropriate access to advanced therapies.

  • Serve as internal global lead on developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and patient groups to bring needed solutions to policy and patient access issues impacting advanced immunological therapies in line with the priorities of the franchise and consistent with overall company position.

  • Develop and execute policy/advocacy positioning platform and stakeholder engagement strategy for senior franchise leadership to establish Sanofi’s commitment to immunology and address key policy and reputation issues.

  • Work with local PA teams to ensure global strategies reflect local realities and relevance/utility of global tools.

  • Leverage resources and expertise across US and Corporate Affairs functions, secure alignment and champion one voice.

 

The role will report to the Head, Global Public Affairs, Immunology.

 

About You

Qualifications:
 

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (accredited four-year College or university, e.g., political sciences, law, economics, medicine, or pharmacy), is required.

  • Post-graduate degree in public health, public policy, health policy, or economics is preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of combined professional experience across Public Affairs; Market Access; Policy or a Government Affairs position with policy-shaping responsibilities is required.

  • Selected candidate will have current or prior experience in developing system-level and disease-level policy and advocacy strategies at the global level, in addition to advanced responsibilities in an industry (or advocacy organization) public affairs role.

  • This position will require strong collaboration across the Local, Regional, and Global teams.

  • Identified candidates will have proven experience in developing and leading within a highly matrixed environment.

  • Previous experience partnering with cross-functional teams is strongly preferred (e.g., Medical, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Communications).

  • This position may require up to 30% overall travel.

  • The role will be based in the US (Cambridge, MA or Washington, D.C. only).

  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated understanding of the strategic role of PA in driving business success.

  • Solid track record in translating strategy to action: developing high impact PA strategies, deploying PA tools and tactics to meet business objectives.

  • Strong leader with proven leadership ability to build consensus, influence the debate, mobilize teams around a position or cause.

  • Team player, skilled in collaboration and able to work and lead with ease cross-functionally and within a matrix.

  • Working knowledge of policy and political environment, legislative processes and role of supra-national bodies.

  • Skilled at developing and cultivating relationships with patient organizations, think tanks, medical societies, public health entities and other strategic partners.

  • Strong knowledge of stakeholder groups, including multi-lateral institutions, trade associations, patient organizations.

  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry, appreciation of critical trends shaping the operating landscape and relevance to industry/business strategy.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams of experts and senior leaders in a highly matrixed organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Strong written and oral skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex policy and scientific issues into understandable/lay language. (Submission of a policy-focused writing sample, persuasive “op-ed” writing sample on policy/advocacy topic and/or an example of policy or issue messaging or campaign activation for assessment by the hiring manager is required for consideration of this role.)

  • Comfortable in ambiguous settings and in operating effectively in fast paced environments.

The salary range for this position is:

$202,500.00 - $292,500.00
