The Security Hardware group is seeking a curious, driven, and technically sharp Hardware Security Design Intern for our team located at ADI’s Wilmington campus. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of digital design and hardware-based security as part of the global Engineering Enablement team, supporting cutting-edge products across ADI’s diverse business units: Automotive, Cloud & Data, Mobile Solutions, Industrial & Medical, Micros & Security, and Advanced R&D. 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Design pre-silicon evaluation methodologies to assess the security of hardware IP.
  • Perform security evaluations on FPGA emulation platforms (e.g. side channel, fault injection).
  • Propose and prototype low-cost hardware or firmware solutions for security vulnerabilities.
  • Supporting security feature verification using simulation and emulation tools. 
  • Documentation of all progress and regular presentations to the team. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. 
  • Proven experience with digital design/SystemVerilog and Python. 
  • Demonstrated Interest in hardware-based security. 
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to set priorities and deliver on commitments. 
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with hardware security principles (cryptography, security algorithms and protocols, public key infrastructure, key management, hardware root of trust). 
  • Interest in emerging threats and countermeasures in systems. 
  • Experience with UVM verification methodologies. 
  • Proficiency with Cadence IC tool suites and simulators, C/C++. 
  • FPGA prototyping or ASIC design.
